Re: Audacity won't launch on MacOsx 10.8.2
The Mac Gatekeeper issue described in install.txt is only the first hurdle. The second hurdle is that Audacity may freeze if you have incompatible plug-ins on your system. This is noted in the Release Notes with a workaround of disabling VST and Audio Unit (AU) effects in Audacity. See http://wiki.a...

Re: cannot get the converter to work properly
Get the latest Audacity 2.0.3 from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac . Then follow this http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_with_usb_turntables.html (it is for USB cassette converters too). Connect the converter first then start Audacity. If the converter has a headphones jack you can ...

Re: can I open and edit an MP3 file without it converting
there is a utility called MP3splt that reportedly does what you need, see: http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php You want the GTK interface version unless you are comfortable using the command-line. Re: Can't record via Stereo Mix
If it was a sound device driver update, you can roll back to the previous driver in Windows Device Manager:

Re: Muting Sound from "Line In" Devices Audacity is Recordi
In particular, when I went to Playback Levels > Properties > Speakers [the device I am using for playback] > Levels (tab), and then set the Realtek HD Audio to "0", this did mute the sound that was being recorded from my "in line" device (the cassette deck hooked up to my comput...

Re: automatic track labeling
No it's a feature request but we will count your vote for it.rhkrhk wrote:In copying tapes or vinyl - is there any way to get some internet database to provide names of tracks?
If you want database lookup it may be better to do metadata tagging in other applications that can do database lookups.

Re: Need help w/ eird Olympus file format
I have a venerable Olympus VN-960PC that I just love, and it still works well. My ONLY issue with the thing is that I cannot find a Voice File Editor to use with it! Many times, there are long silences in my recordings that I would like to edit out. I have been able to OPEN the files quite easily u...

Re: Recording from iPod to PC
I am having trouble recording from my iPod to PC, if it is even doable. I had system crash, had to rebuild iTunes Library and lost some songs. They are on the iPod from a prior library but trying to sync with new library will delete all iPod songs and original library is gone as well. You can only ...

Re: Gaining permission to export MP3 file from Audacity
Thanks for the extra information, but to avoid confusion it's better to add new information by editing your original post. I merged the topics. The easiest solution is to click in the "Save in:" box in the "Export File" window to change the directory to one where you have write p...

Re: Tracks Squished Vertically
I have a project in which I have many tracks. Now, the issue is that the tracks used to be nice and spaced out and I could see individual peaks and troughs and could place the cursor anywhere I liked within a track to listen to it. Now, once I imported an mp3 file into the project, all the tracks h...
