Re: Audacity transfer becomes erratic and stops recording
The blog doesn't say what device he is recording from, but the poster on Nabble had a USB device and USB recordings may often seize up. Running too many programs and services usually causes gaps in non-USB recordings rather than complete seizure, but you should certainly try what Koz suggested (no n...

Re: Trouble installing/running the Lame mp3 program
It should just work if you have never used Audacity before. Uninstall whatever you downloaded, then download this http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/lame_enc.dll and put it in the folder that you are running the Audacity application from. Then all you should need to do is export as MP3. You can also export ...

Re: How do I get "line in" to come up on recording options
Assuming you are on Windows Vista or later, you may have to enable the audio input in Windows Sound . Or (on any system) you may have to go into your sound device's control panel to change the port from output to input. But quality-wise it is unlikely you'll get better than mono or poor stereo input...

Re: I MESSED UP BAD!!! HELP
Never copy AUP files and _data folders in the same folder using Windows. This can lead to loss of the project if you open and save the copy. The only really safe way to make a copy of a project is File > Save Project As and choose a new name. The project with the old name closes and you are left loo...

Re: Lost Project
My first guess is that you moved, renamed or deleted "dependent" files. (see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html#dependencies) Is that possible? I would doubt it, if it was one of Bob's voiceover recordings. Where did you save the project - have you lost perm...

Re: recording sunds in stereo tracks from xbox
What you describe is a common problem on Vista and later (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables#Windows_Vista_and_7 ) but you don't have the expected properties sheets, even if this was the problem. Have you looked in the Realtek Control Panel itself (it should be in the Windows Control P...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"
2) Make it work too when selection has zero duration. Now, it does nothing. With no selection, nothing will be cut. Does it make sense to "Preview Cut" if there is no "cut"? Yes it could do, like listening to the area either side of something you "may" want to edit wit...

Re: Poorly written looping wiki - need help looping
Maybe that Wiki page should have something like Steve wrote about different types of loop and how that might affect selection - certainly as regards pad and drum loops. @Gale & Steve: Is there a good reason why "Looping" is in the Wiki and not in the Manual? Perhaps Steve summed it up ...

Re: Audacity transfer becomes erratic and stops recording
I am actually using the "mike input" jack on my laptop - not any of the USB ports or a hub. Mic inputs (pink) are mono or at best rather poor stereo (unless they have an explicit control or switch that sets to them to high quality line-in stereo). As well as being mono that input will ten...

Re: putting mp3 in audio without cutting off previous record
Gets erased from what - the exported file?
If you are ready to export, unmute all the tracks that you want in the mix then File > Export... (not File > Export Selection...).
