Re: Mono playthrough

I just found something about configuring the Windows Sound Mapper for 2-channel recording on this page . Thanks Doug. Does any one still see the weird behaviours those steps were working around, where Sound Mapper - Input would not record on Windows XP when the USB turntable was default, but on Vis...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"

@gayle That's the proposal I meant: The simplest implementation of this that I can think of would be 4 key bindings (possibly the number keys 2, 3, 4 and 5) that play: Up to the cursor/left edge of selection, From the cursor/right edge of selection, From the cursor/left edge of selection, Up to the...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"

Steve's proposal is quite the thing we need. Steve's proposal appeared to be "2" key could be "Play one second centred on (or either side of) the playback cursor". But then you say: I can't see how the continuous playback over the cursor/edge can be of any advantage to VI users....

Re: Mono playthrough

Try this http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables#Windows_Vista_and_7 to make sure you are recording in stereo to begin with. I doubt you are recording in stereo but getting mono playthrough but if you are, go to the Playback tab of Windows Sound, right-click over your playback device > Prop...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"

CTRL + 5 just scrolls the view so that the right edge of the selection is in the centre of the visible track. There is no cursor when there is a selection, except in so far that you regard the left edge of the selection as the cursor. Pressing SPACE plays from the start of the selection as normally....

Re: recording sunds in stereo tracks from xbox

Did you change the sound card drivers to ones made by the computer or motherboard maker that are meant for Windows 7? Windows XP audio drivers will not work properly on Windows 7. See here for some help http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updat ... ce_Drivers .

Re: Lost Project

Leaving an unsaved or unexported show open while you go shopping is a very bad idea. If anything at all happens to the machine or any of the parts that Audacity is standing on, the show goes straight into the dustbin. Not really. If the cat pulls the plug out while you are gone, Automatic Crash Rec...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"

The c key gives a good overview when I've set the markers in one go. For fine positioning, seperate previews for 1 s before cursor position/left marker and 1 s after cursor position/right marker would be much, much better. I don't know if I am misunderstanding, but Playback Preferences has separate...

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"

Perhaps as the "1" key is "Plays for one second centered on the current pointer position (not from the current cursor position)", the "2" key could be "Play one second centred on (or either side of) the playback cursor". Yes but that is only one second and no...
