Re: Recording 2 things at once/muting channels
Have you looked in the Windows Control Panel and checked if you have a balance control, as I suggested before? I tried this. On my desktop the balance control on the Windows Volume Control is permanently greyed, don't know why. On my laptop it works, but when I ran Audacity and switched on micropho...

Re: transfering settings from one project to another
You could add Equalization (configured to use your preset) to a "Chain", import the files then apply the Chain to the current project ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ba ... ssing.html ).

Re: Audacity hangs when Record icon is engaged
If you make AudioFire default recording device in Windows ( http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ssues#xpcp ) does Windows Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) record from it?
Have you tried increasing "Audio to Buffer" in the Audacity Recording Preferences?

Re: Problems with .aif/aiff files (Windows 7 OS)
IMA4 is Apple's version of IMA ADPCM: http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=Apple_QuickTime_IMA_ADPCM which is a "compressed" 4-bit type of PCM. Audacity would be able to import IMA ADPCM in a WAV container with its normal uncompressed importer, but not if IMA ADPCM is in an AIFF conta...

Re: Can't Change Export Format (2.0.3 Mac)
What format are you trying to export to? There are no options for WAV PCM or AIFF PCM, as the message says.
Make sure you have Audacity 2.0.3 from here:
http://audacityteam.org/download/mac
and that you follow the installation instructions on that page exactly.

Re: Problems with .aif/aiff files (Windows 7 OS)
I've got a few .aif (or aiff, anyway) that I need to convert, but when I open them in Audacity the dialogue is really messed up. The speech is covered over by a really annoying sound that sounds like static and clicking together. I've tried all the different effects and generators to fix it, but no...

Re: Selection Click Behavior Changed (for the worse)
I'd not actually noticed until I read your post, but I presume that it is by design, and I'd imagine that it is what most people would want. I had not noticed either, but the behaviour changed in 1.3.14, and isn't intended and wasn't discussed, so in that sense it's a bug. It also means the Manual ...

Re: How can I make edits less obvious?
If the retake is too loud or too soft, drag-select the retake and Effect > Amplify. Just hitting OK on Amplify makes the selection as loud as it can be. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/amplify.html . If a plosive is in the selection that looks like a spike you may not be able to amplify ver...

Re: Preferences
Please read the Manual to see where the audacity.cfg settings file is: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/preferences.html#stored . You can make a copy of audacity.cfg using Explorer if you name the .cfg file backup to some other name. If you need to restore the .cfg file, quit Audacity first then...

Re: Lost Project
This is the directory I found in the preferences section of Audacity C:DOCUME~1BOBHEN~1LOCALS~1Tempaudacity_1_2_temp Hi Bob, Yes that's what I meant by a "truncated name": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8.3_filename . Later Audacity can lose access to the temp folder if it has the short nam...
