Re: Direct help for a BLIND user of Audacity
Thanks, Robert for offering to help privately. Can you possibly send Eurocoachman a PM yourself and perhaps give him your e-mail address? Eurocoachman does not have privileges to send you a PM. The blind list is quite good. Some of the users have authored audio files to help getting started with som...

Re: Mixer Toolbar Greyed Out Win 7 have micosound mapper
It is from turntable direct So is it a USB turntable? If not (it's a standalone conventional turntable), that is supposed to be connected to a phono amplifier. If you connect a standalone turntable direct to the computer, the Equalization will be incorrect (sound "tinny"). That is fixable...

Re: Why is it "rerecording".
Then you still have some pathway open that is recording playback. Look in the Windows Control Panel for "Sound" and Realtek's own control panel. Try muting the front or other outputs if there are such. What version of Windows is it? The other explanation is that the sound device is just br...

Re: Keeping Temp files longer or autosave feature
If Audacity asks me to save changes and I answer "No" it is because I actually don't want to save any changes. +1 Obviously a feature that does the opposite of what the "Save Changes" dialogue says is out of the question (at least without further first-time explanation and an op...

Re: Direct help for a BLIND user of Audacity
I would encourage her to join the Audacity4Blind mailing list and ask for help there: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audacity_for_blind_users#docs . Make sure she has the latest Audacity 2.0.3 which has the best accessibility features: http://audacityteam.org/download/ . Unfortunately we do not h...

Re: Recording 2 channel stereo - Win XP
On my two Win XP machines, a stereo USB preamplifier is *only* able to submit the Left channel to the wave mapping layer. What do you mean by "wave mapping layer"? Win XP "generously" doubles this up into two mono channels (fake stereo) for any programme accessing either of the ...

Re: Why is it "rerecording".
If you are not already doing so, use headphones. What output device is selected in Audacity Preferences or Device Toolbar? If you are recording the mic connected to a mixer or interface and sending Audacity playback to that mixer/interface, don't send the playback back to Audacity to be re-recorded....

Re: Could Not Open Mp3 Encoding Library
It could be that this is the problem: Error: Execution of command 'lame-"C:UsersWorkshopDesktopAmerica.mp3" ' failed (error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.) Perhaps writing an MP3 is trying to call some other MP3 encoder you have installed somewhere else. This looks as if it ...

Re: No sound from web after using audacity
What Output Device are you choosing in Device Toolbar (to right of the "Audio Host" where you choose MME or DirectSound)? Web browsers can only use the Windows default playback device (you can choose what is the default sound playback device in "Sounds and Audio Devices": http://...

Re: audacity 2.0.3 - can't create tmp files
I will check if I can run Audacity as root on my 12.10 Ubuntu install and report back. No. If I run my self-compiled build installed in /usr/local/bin as root, the message appears and Audacity quits. The same happens if I run the Ubuntu "Daily Build" of Audacity installed in /usr/bin/ as ...
