Re: dB definition in help
An Audacity developer wrote that Wiki answer, but I am confused by it. A change of 10 dB is a factor of 10, a change of 20 dB is a factor of 100, etc.. That's the power ratio, though. Audacity uses amplitude ratio, so a change of 10 dB is a factor of about 3, and a change of 20 dB is a factor of 10....

Re: Will not record audio to speakers in Windows 7
At your own risk, you can try the Audacity latest "Nightly" development build from the top of this list which has a "loopback" feature to record audio playing through the sound device (even if your device lacks its own "stereo mix" input). Select the "Windows WASAP...

Re: EQ Curve not showing when playing a song
My main problem has been that the music sounds good with my computer speakers, but on the MP3 player it gets distortion. It will just take more time learning the software and knowing which frequencies need changed. It would just be nice to have more templates to choose from. You can save a curve th...

Re: Keeping Temp files longer or autosave feature
I can't see any of the currently active developers being interested in either feature, but developers may change and disk space on drives keeps increasing. Audacity would have to set some space limit for the first feature. It certainly deserves to have a "devcomment" alongside cautioning a...

It is not easy to use their web site, I agree.

Re: Mixer Toolbar Greyed Out Win 7 have micosound mapper
Thanks.
So can we mark this as solved, that it was a driver problem?
It sounds as if Microsoft gave you a generic Realtek driver that is not really matched with your Gateway computer. This is why they were reluctant.

No I don't hear it there either.Paul L wrote:I don't know. Do you mean to say that you do hear it with graphic equalization?
Could you give steps to reproduce it in Draw Curves?

Re: Split menu disabled
Perhaps you just want to drag-select what you want to delete, press Stop then use the DELETE key on your keyboard?
Use CTRL + X if you want to cut the selection so you can paste it elsewhere.
Use CTRL + T if you want to delete everything else except the selection.

Re: Equalization preview not playing at correct volume
Thanks for the report. I don't hear an obvious problem with Draw Curves. Might this be connected with http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 50&t=71512 ?
