Re: Using mike to record and play back

If it's easier for you and you need to change input or output or recording channels, Edit > Preferences then choose "Devices" top left. Those are the same choices that are in Device Toolbar.

I don't use Chris's Compressor, but would adjusting the "Release speed" help?

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor

http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Tutorial_-_Copy_and_paste_a_section_of_audio Thanks, Trebor. Hmm, that page seems to be completely orphaned so is not in the released Manual that we should normally link to in replies. I was just trying to include a link to a page on copying and pastin...

Re: Replaygain not working on mp3 files

Audacious 3.2.3 on Mint 14 (installed from Ubuntu repository) does not seem to use the replaygain values stored in mp3 files. Replaygain does appear to work with FLAC encoded files. I think I'm going to complile from source and see if the problem persists. Please note that Audacious is nothing to d...

Re: Recording a long recording into one recording

This is explained in the link I gave http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/au ... tml#import .
Right-click on any of the tracks > Extract partial CD Track, or press F10.
F10 is the shortcut for Convert > Extract a section of the CD.

Re: Audacity doesn't open on Samsung Chromebook running Ubun

I have no idea if Audacity can run on an ARM processor Yes Audacity has basic ARM support but it's only compilable on Linux (GCC) under normal circumstances. There was a post on audacity-devel a year ago from someone who built Audacity 2.0.0 on Fedora 14 on an ARM machine (their problem was that Fe...

Re: Recording a long recording into one recording

If you have 34 tracks on an audio CD and ripped the CD to 34 MP3's you can do better than that. Use CDex, rip to WAV, not MP3 to avoid audio losses and choose the option to extract a "partial CD track". Then you can rip the sermon to a single WAV file. CDex is a separate download from anot...

Re: New Audacity Functionality: Real-time editing

I did float an open ended invitation to discuss narrator's techniques lately, but got few responses. I thought there were a lot of LibriVox people lurking here. I think there are many thousands who use Audacity to record for Librivox, but only a handful of dedicated (or foolhardy :D ) souls read th...

Re: Using mike to record and play back

You may have moved Device Toolbar somewhere you cannot see it.

Try View > Toolbars > Reset Toolbars then all toolbars should dock into position.

Re: 2 records in 1

There is no automatic method. Assuming the pitch is also wrong on the track that recorded too fast or slow, you can try an extremely small Effect > Change Speed on the track that is incorrect. If you first of all open Effect > Change Tempo and enter the required length of the track that would make i...
