Re: Registry Error
I just installed 2.03 on my iMac 10.7.5 and I get a Registry Error, not installed correctly. The program will start and run but I can't save/export/copy, etc. What exactly happens when you try to select and copy some audio? What happens when you try to export an AIFF? That error is not in our sourc...

Re: Video Editing question
AVIDemux is good if you are more interested in lossless editing without re-encoding than in thousands of effects:

Re: Exporting in FLAC
What I still don't quite understand is if you are exporting 24-bit WAV stereo at 44100 Hz, you won't get a lot more than 4 hours within even the 4 GB WAV limit. Compressing data that would produce a 4 GB 24-bit WAV to 24-bit FLAC should not produce a FLAC file much over 2 GB, assuming the same sampl...

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor
Version 1.1 doesn't have a "hardness" setting. Is the "Compress ratio" in 1.1 similar to "hardness" in 1.2.6?theRamenNoodle wrote:Toning down the hardness often helps with this.

Re: Persistent error stopping Audacity from working
I am using Microsoft High definition audio device and I checked the driver was up to date with them. If the audio drivers for the built-in sound device are made by Microsoft they are generic drivers that are not matched to your motherboard and its sound device. You will need to go to the motherboar...

Re: Is it possible to save a file at its changed playback sp
I'm an experimental psych student and need two music files as stimuli. One slowed by 50%, one increased 150%. I also only want to save a selection of the music. Is it possible to save a selection that's had its speed altered? Not with Play-at-Speed. Use Effect > Change Speed (which changes the proj...

Re: Latency Correction Setting
Then the recording is still stalling as soon as it starts, so when you press Stop, the fragment of track is pushed behind zero. Try changing the input device in Audacity Device Toolbar ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html ) to an (hw) choice which gives you direct access to the...

Transport > Software Playthrough (on/off). If it appears checked (on), click it to turn it off. You can also turn it off at Edit > Preferences and choose "Recording" on the left (Audacity > Preferences if you have a Mac computer). If you have more questions please start a new topic in the ...

Re: EFFECT OF SCREEN SAVER ON SAVING IN TEMPORARY FOLDER
It is best to disable screen savers if you are recording. See point 16 here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Managing_Computer_Resources_and_Drivers . That said, on Windows 7 the screen saver does not affect the audio stream or Audacity recording (and does not affect Windows Sound Recorder recordi...

Re: Latency Rate Changes Each Time I Record! Help!
I concur with Steve's and Koz's observations. There may be variations in recording latency from recording to recording. The more tasks you have running (or are permitted to run when they want to), the more variability you will have. See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Managing_Computer_Resources_a...
