Re: Cant get audacity to launch
Please follow the instructions here http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.3#Program_Launch (where it says "VST/Audio Units Plug-ins"). You may have not done something correctly. There is a more step-by-step version you can try at http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/User:BillWha...

Re: Noise removal crashes Audacity
I saw a similar thread in the 1.3 section and posted these results there before realizing I was in the wrong forum. I deleted that post. Thanks for reposting in a new topic. 5) Eventually I can cause the crash as follows: a) Select a small range b) Select noise removal and then OK to create silence...

Re: Import stopped working
Yes, all media plays in other programs. I did forget to mention if I record using my laptop mic I see the wave form until I stop, then it disappears. The folder you are using for Audacity's temporary data is full, or the folder cannot be read or written to. Quit Audacity and reinstall it again, mak...

Re: Compressed project files have no audio!
once I open the compressed project file again a full size copy of the data seems to be created within the project folder! That seems to sort of negate the whole point of the compression... No. If you read the message when you click to save a compressed project, or read the Manual , this should be c...

Re: Saved Projects Not Opening Right
When you say you open this problem project on your computer profile, do you mean you are logged in as yourself, and that the project doesn't lack its audio when logged in as your girlfriend? When you have the problem, please click File > Check Dependencies... and tell us what it says, or better, att...

Re: Labels wish-list
Probably the correct response is to provide another way to select labels without opening them for editing Throwing in an idea: Double clicking on an audio clip selects that audio clip, so how about if double clicking within a region label selected the region label? That would be very intuitive but ...

Re: Help needed: Can't open .caf files any more?
iTunes won't open CAF files containing Apple Lossless even on Mac. The reason Audacity is crashing is because the FFmpeg latest version for Audacity that you have (0.6.2) is crashing trying to import the file. That version of FFmpeg can import 16-bit Apple Lossless, but not inside a CAF container. T...

Re: Recording stereo mix and laptop mic together in Windows
This is the better way in Audacity than recording YouTube and yourself together. Download the video to your computer (search Google for how to do that). Put headphones on. Install FFmpeg ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown ) Drag the video file into Audac...

Re: Does normalizing require upconverting to preserve qualit
If the Audacity Quality Preferences are set to 32-bit float, you will have a 32-bit float track after import. If you want to import as 16-bit you have to change to 16-bit in Quality Preferences. This isn't recommended for most purposes because processing edits including Amplify will add dither when ...

Re: Integration with Ableton Live
for it to work properly, it's more than just directing it to the correct directory but instead, it needs to overwrite the original file. In other software this would be "Save" rather than "Save As". Audacity doesn't seem to have any kind of "Save", just "Export&qu...
