Re: Noise and skipping
It's best to start a new topic. You posted a question in someone else's topic that was irrelevant to that topic. I started a new topic for you. If it's a USB interface, try plugging it into a spare USB port if you are not already doing so. Plugging into a USB hub that has other devices connected to ...

Re: Labels wish-list
and possibly "Split Labels"? I don't know what would be useful there that wouldn't be better done manually. How do you currently split a label (manually or otherwise). For example, if I have labelled a region and then decide that it really needs to be 2 or 3 consecutive labels, how do I s...

Re: Equalization less capable under Mac OSX?
As it looks a bit like a "bug", I added a sentence about this to the Manual .steve wrote:Ah ha! That explains itGordon Coates wrote:Steve, are you working with a 192KHz file open?![]()
No doubt you'll correct/improve it if needed.

Re: Wave image small, sound inaudible
Actually, one thing I did to increase the volume was "normalize." THeN the hiss etc. was overpowering. That is expected if you recorded at a really low level. You need peaks of around half height or a bit more on the Audacity waveform. When you say -6 on the db meter, is that the slider o...

Re: Does normalizing require upconverting to preserve qualit
A better way to avoid the need for dither, is to keep everything in 32 bit float format (or higher). If you don't convert down to a lower bit format, there is no need to dither. The problem there is that few programs (other than audio editing programs) support 32 bit float format (also, the file si...

Re: I have no idea how to start...
Yes you have to use the same named sound device for recording (input) and playback (output). The device name may be for example, "Realtek" or "SoundMax" or "IDT". But you have to choose the correct input device on that named sound device that is meant for recording comp...

Re: Cant record stereo with audacity
I am about to un-install and re-install audacity. That will achieve nothing. What are you recording when you set Audacity to record two channels? Is it left channel with signal and the right channel empty (flat)? Or the same signal in both channels? If the latter, it's probably a Windows setting (n...

Re: Equalization less capable under Mac OSX?
Here is the XML file I exported from 2.0.2 under Windows and imported into 2.0.3 under Mac OSX. (It only creates the equalization I need to flatten out the room interaction with my speakers when applied to 192KHz files - I use very different curves to create approximately the same equalization with...

Re: Saved Projects Not Opening Right
If you set the Audacity temporary folder to some account you cannot guarantee to be able to write to (according to who you are logged in as), then you will always have this problem. You can fix this in several ways, by Logging in as admin (right-click over audacity.exe and running as admin probably ...

Re: Saved Projects Not Opening Right
Could you answer the following? When you say you open this problem project on your computer profile, do you mean you are logged in as yourself, and that the project doesn't lack its audio when logged in as your girlfriend? Either way, the log seems clear - the operating system is denying you access ...
