Re: Were can I download Audacity 1.3 to use on Win7?
Also thank you for the suggestion (in your manual) to use Freecorder. I understand that it's the way for me to record audio from the Internet. Or SoundLeech if you want to record as WAV rather than lossy MP3. At your own risk, you can try the latest Audacity "Nightly" development build wh...

Re: modified silence marker to insert more silence
Would there be any "demand" or value for "Truncate Silence" to be able to "expand" (repeat) silence as an extra feature? What is the use case - to give someone learning a language sufficient space to record their pronunciation underneath? Would repeating be better than ...

Re: Can't export audio file "libsndfile says"[SOLVED]
Try changing the filename and don't put any punctuation marks in. A common error is dates. Use the international form 2013-05-02. Underscore and dash are acceptable. If a user reports a "Libsndfile says" error, this is not due to the file name but explicitly due to a bug that was fixed in...

Re: Error opening Sound device .. ck sample rate
So what changed if you could record stereo mix before in Audacity? Or did you never try? Have you checked in Windows Sounds and Audio Devices to see if Stereo Mix is enabled? What is the model number? Is (or was initially) the computer intended to run Windows XP? Have you asked on the unofficial HP ...

Re: switch to Spectogram display by code
HI Jerome Well done for getting as far as you have and thanks for giving a progress report. I am not sure how generally useful the shortcut to toggle the waveform view is, even though I can see its value for those using Repair to remove clicks. Does your command work on all tracks or only the select...

Re: Error opening Sound device .. ck sample rate
I use an ihome mini speeker on this lap top.. as the only usb.. device Is the error occurring when you play, record or both? If it only occurs when recording, what exactly are you trying to record? If you want to to use the USB speaker as playback device, choose the "USB CODEC" as playbac...

Re: AIFF to WAV the same?
While you are at if, please upgrade at http://audacityteam.org/download/ to the latest Audacity 2.0.3. This works on Windows 7, Windows XP and OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). There should be no reason to use Audacity 1.3 Beta on those systems. If you are not already doing so, you may subscribe here: http:...

Re: Mix and Render problems
I take it you are aware that mixing is additive (less so if the sounds are dissimilar)? Can you find a couple of short tracks that display this problem when mixed and rendered, then File > Export Selection each track as WAV. The WAV's should be no longer than 5 or 6 seconds for stereo or 11 or 12 se...

Re: Bug while exporting to m4a
The FFmpeg command-line executable displays the same issue, so it's an FFmpeg problem, not an Audacity problem. Also remember FFMpeg is a free knockoff of the "real" software. I didn't try it, but it's possible iTunes for Windows will create an aac file from your work. It does. Follow the ...

Re: Burning MP3 Data CD in own playlist order
I'm not sure, but Audacity may not be able to edit the tags without also re-encoding the MP3, and that can cause quality loss with the extra lossy encoding step. That's correct, Audacity will have to re-export (re-encode) the MP3 even if you only edit the tags. And if the MP3 has lyrics or artwork,...
