Re: USB Recording input volume set low to get to-6 dB
Look for a knob on or under the turntable to turn the output volume down. USB inputs are often said to be "hot" on Windows Vista and later. Sometimes it is suggested this is because most USB audio input devices (even USB turntables and USB cassette decks) are seen by Windows as "micro...

Re: Nyquist Noise Gate Won't Show Up in Audacity 2.0.0
I closed out Audacity a couple of times and restarted. Didn't work. Then I upgraded to the latest version and it still didn't work. Are you looking underneath the divider in the Effect Menu, near the bottom? Edit > Preferences: Effects. Under "Enable Effects", make sure "Nyquist"...

Re: Something changed in my setup - how to get it back?
Thanks for the tip on the recording control panel - everything was as it should be. However I'm still getting very low levels from my microphone. When I use my laptop's internal microphone, I get nice strong levels up to -6 or -12. When using my fancy external microphone, I can't get above -36. Whe...

Re: Any exported file from audacity doesnt play
There is nothing wrong with your exported files. If you had dragged those exported files back into Audacity you would see that. If this is a USB converter it has probably switched the system sound playback to itself. To correct that, simply unplug the converter from the computer or read this Frequen...

Also Audacity 1.3 is now obsolete. Please uninstall it and download the latest 2.0.3 version from http://audacityteam.org/download/ .

Re: Something changed in my setup - how to get it back?
I have just noticed that when I start recording a new file, something has changed. Before, it went all the way to 1.0. Now, it defaults to 0.5. How do I change this? The white section between 0.5 and -0.5 is because you enabled Multi-Tool , which in turn enables a volume envelope that has that whit...

Re: How to record sound thro mic in windows 7
Thanks for the post, TonyVA408. I also saw a forum post suggesting that updated audio drivers should be obtained from the Realtek web site. However, seeing how they write their supporting documentation, I got the impression it may not be safe for ordinary computer users to be looking for solutions t...

Re: Wave Form and Volume Low Since Using 2.0
I THINK IT IS THE RECORDING LEVEL AS THE WAVE FORM BARELY GOES ABOVE THE VERTICAL LINE. THE HEADSET USES TWO PLUG INS, A PINK AND A GREEN ONE. OK, thanks. Have you checked for a boost or AGC control for the mic in Windows Sounds and Audio Devices? This may be behind an "Advanced" button. ...
