Re: why /var/tmp and not /tmp?

I am using the Archlinux and the Audacity package that comes with that. If it needs to store the sound data it could do it in memory and not need to write so much to disk? If ArchLinux are still distributing Audacity 2.0.1 or earlier (see Help > About Audacity) then you can enable the option to pla...

Re: Effects menu extends below screen bottom

Thanks for the report. I cannot test it right now, but can you please state what screen resolution you are using. The minimum supported Audacity vertical resolution is 600 px. Can you scroll by hovering over an item in the menu then using DOWN arrow on the keyboard or by typing H, which should toggl...

Re: beep on completion of batch processing

I've merged the two topics to lessen the confusion. Could I impose on you to un-merge these two topics and just completely eliminate the topic I had hidden away. That code has nothing to do with batch processing and does not help Steve so probably will not help you. I've no idea why you hid it away...

Re: Non-Profit Development Help Needed

I am the head of a tech committee of a non-profit which records audio books for the vision impaired and children with learning disabilities. We currently use a proprietary, in-house produced application that is tied to a database which keeps track of the books or projects being recorded. The curren...

Re: Audacity has killed sound on my PC for other programs

Thank you for the advice. I apologise for expressing what has happened badly - of course the issue is inside the workings of Windows but it was triggered by using Audacity No, it was triggered by plugging in the "LENOX" player. If you had chosen to record with Windows Sound Recorder or ot...

Re: error opening sound device

As it says in "The Lounge" where you posted on someone else's topic If you require help using Audacity, or think you have found a "bug", please post on the forum board relevant to your operating system. Assuming you are on Windows, I moved your post here to the Windows board and ...

Re: Audacity has stopped working

I downloaded the latest version of Audacity directly from them. I am using Windows 7 and I get the "Stopped Working" AFTER I stop recording and before I get to "Save Project." You have probably downloaded a crapware or malware version of Audacity from somewhere else that will da...

Re: *^is there a way to get mouse to scroll horizontally w/o

Even if the mouse bindings were configurable, the current version of Widgets we use does not properly support horizontal mouse movements. We would need to update Widgets. Because of the changes in later Widgets, extensive coding changes in Audacity would be required.

Re: PCM/16bit/8Khz/Mono

DTMF I did not want to convert the greeting you uploaded because you downsampled it to 8-bit depth by using U-Law encoding and I cannot recover that quality loss by re-encoding it in the required 16-bit. It would be better you re-recorded it or re-exported the version you already have in your Audac...
