Exactly how are you recording the instrumental? With what equipment, connected where, and what input device are you choosing in Audacity?

Re: Recording on top of recording
The problem is that I can't separate the tracks. I can't figure out where the separate tracks are. When I select the file to export, the entire thing is copied again. It doesn't separate. They are literally on top of each other. As Koz said, use the Mute/Solo buttons to hear one track at a time. Th...

Re: HELP! Corrupt .aup file - 17750 orphaned files.
What happens when the project opens - is the entire audio silenced and orphaned? Are you sure you only recorded nine or 10 hours? Audacity cannot store more than 2^31 samples as a project, as noted in the Release Notes . At 48000 Hz this implies a maximum storage of just over 12 hours 20 minutes. 17...

Re: Really low volume level recording from turntable
We can only help you with Audacity , not with whatever software is in your pictures. Uninstall the Audacity version that was on the CD first, then get the latest Audacity 2.0.3 version from the link above. Our Manual explicitly says to ignore any instructions you may see accompanying the turntable t...

Re: crash when switching from stereo to mono recording
Thanks for the report. Please give us some more information to go on (see the pink panel above). What version of Windows? What version of Audacity (all three numbers at Help > About Audacity)? Where are you changing between stereo and mono - in Device Toolbar ? What is your input device in Device To...

Re: Audacity lowers volume when opening
The Audacity output volume slider is supposed to control the master output slider for the output device selected in Device Toolbar . With Audacity closed, and no audio playing, please left-click the speaker icon by the system clock, then choose "Mixer". Choose the same output device you ha...

Re: Error while opening sound device
This is expected on Windows 7 because it disables all or most of the sound inputs.
So you cannot record until you enable the inputs in Windows "Sound".
Please see this Frequently Asked Question .

Re: How to convert a WAV file to a G729 format
Can you make it work? I think it's one of those combinations that just exports an empty file. I tried leaving bit rate empty, and 32 kbps.kozikowski wrote:If you install the FFmpeg software, Audacity will export G.726.

Re: How to convert a WAV file to a G729 format
G.726 is a later implementation of ADPCM and nothing to do with G.729 which is the heavily patented CS-ACELP . G.723 is an earlier 24/40 kbps ADPCM variant. Audacity does not directly support either, only the earlier G.721 32 kbps ADPCM (which doesn't require FFmpeg). Even if you install the FFmpeg ...

Re: .wav file in CCITT (µ -law) 8kHz, 8bit, Mono format
did the OP solve his issue following your advice? We are not in the habit of giving incorrect advice ;) 8 bit export is not an option with above (Audacity 2.03, snow leopard latest updates, even java working). (Recorded in mono, 44.1 16 bit pcm sampling, 8000 in project window bottom left corner, e...
