Look to left of the blue waves, above the Mute / Solo buttons. It will say mono or stereo.

Re: reducing background white noise, increasing voice volume

The only likely tool is Effect > Noise Removal, but please attach about 6 seconds of WAV file that has the noise on its own followed by the noise and voice mixed together. See here http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 for how to make a WAV audio sample and here http://forum.a...

Re: AUP files missing audio data

So I tried copying the focus1_data folder to the desktop and opening the aup file in audacity from that location, but I got the same error message. Do you think that logging on as an administrator might allow me to open the file? Probably not, if you have permission to open files on that desktop no...

Re: recovering recorded file additional info

I'm recording vinyl from my collection using a *ion profile player and a digital feed through a usb port. I titled the file Allman Brothers live at the Fillmore East. So how did you save the recording? If you did File > Export, do that again and the window will open to the same folder you exported ...

Re: Export as MP3

I have LAME and Audacity 2.0.3. My problem is in trying to export a saved track to another folder as an MP3 I don't see the Audacity Project file in the export window. I see the data file but not the .aup file so I can't export it. I use Windows 8 and I have files & folders set to show hidden. ...

Re: recovering recorded file

Hello out there! I'm new to this forum and to Audacity in general. I'm using Mac SnowLeopard. I recorded a complete version of The Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East. I thought I did everything correctly to save the file. If you saved an Audacity project (AUP file) it will be in the File > Open R...

Current iTunes (on Mac OS X and Windows) appears to accept 32-bit float files with WAV headers, but not with AIFF headers.

Re: AUP files missing audio data

I have clicked the show log for missing details. OK, though you actually attached a PNG image with a LOG extension, which makes computers think it's a text file. I don't need a new log file, but for reference, after opening Help > Show Log... click "Log" at the top (you can press ALT on y...

Re: AUP files missing audio data

You will probably recall that I am one of those who firmly believes that a strong distinction should exist between open/save and import/export - imo: 1) Open/Save should only be usable on native format files/file-structures - in Audacity's case that means Audacity projects 2) Import/Export should o...
