Actually you can give Steve credit for that answer. ;)

Though if I was doing this a lot, personally I would make the gain adjustment automatically in other software using the Replay Gain algorithm.

Re: Can't import mp4 files

If this is still a problem could you do a couple of things. 1) download MediaInfo (get the version without installer) from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows then open the video file in that. Click View > Text then you can copy and paste here what it says. 2) Copy and paste the log...

Re: Question about the Mix & Render function

Well, almost cheers. What has to happen for "Make stereo track" to be a clickable option in that menu? Thanks. I think this is getting un-necessarily complex. To enable "Make Stereo Track" it has to be the upper track of two tracks that are left, right or mono. The tracks do not...

Re: Recording Quality Problem

No, it doesn't recognize the mic jack as a recording input in the Recording tab. Nor does Audacity recognize it. They replaced the motherboard today. I didn't think that would work, and it didn't. All they need to do is answer a straight question: "how do you enable the external mic"? Gale

I found the original list and added the folders with #'s and letters and it worked with no orphan files or silence... I will continue piecing it together. Thanks I thought you had already made the correct worldrecordpodcast3_data folder. "worldrecordpodcast3_data" should contain an "...

Re: No "Change Tempo" effect in the 'Effect' drop down box

"Change Tempo" is in the Effect Menu at the top - not in a box. What happens if you press ALT on your keyboard then C? Does the Effect Menu open then you can see Change Tempo near the top?

This is the download site for Audacity http://audacityteam.org/download/ .

Re: Opening m4a files[SOLVED]

OK,thanks for replying, I will mark it [SOLVED] then.

FFmpeg "should" be able to import M4A containing AAC, but M4A is a "container" format, so your file might have included some other format than AAC, which might trouble FFmpeg.
