Re: System requirements
My question is; is Audacity a bit too heavy for the average laptop running windows? Does it need a lot of RAM? Did you check here http://audacityteam.org/download/windows#sysreq ? If any of your machines are running 64-bit Windows then you need twice the RAM that you do for 32-bit. 1 GB RAM is the ...

Re: How to have coding 'no encoding' in export MP3
It is very helpful OK, but as Koz says, 24000 Hz (and especially 24 kbps bit rate) are very low quality. It is only really suitable for speech. Unless the audio actually has different content in left and right channels, you would get better quality from the same bit rate setting by selecting the au...

Re: Error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 5199
If the audio data had been intact, than I think that the modified file that Gale posted should have worked. The fact that it opened "empty" make me think that the audio data is either missing or unreadable. Yes, possibly - but the user mentioned no warning on recovering the project. In so...

Re: Error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 5199
Update on something. It did the whole "cleaning" thing and took out my project file from "audacity_temp". Luckily I saved before it but it's missing things, or at least it would seem that way. Is there some way to get back the original folder? If the recovered waveform is incorr...

Re: How to have coding 'no encoding' in export MP3
I am struggling as how to export Audacity edited file as MP3 with the following settings. Mode of “joint stereo” (different than mono mode), if not possible then “2 channels” is fine as well. Bit rate mode as “constant” Sampling of 24 kHz No encoding If there is no encoding, there is no MP3 export,...

I mentioned this to a developer and it is not considered a concern for normal users.

Audacity Portable is not our project so we cannot answer questions about it. Here is the address you need http://portableapps.com/forums/support/audacity_portable . You may want to consider loading Audacity Portable from the PortableApps.com Platform instead. Neither Audacity Portable or Audacity ru...

Re: Changing bitrate changes length of the file.
Thanks for letting us know.
You can't delete your own post right now, but it's OK to leave this topic here because it contains some useful information for others who don't know that MP3 adds silence padding or that changing sample rate in the track drop-down changes the length.

Re: recording
I have 2 m audio delta 1010lt cards installed. Audacity shows 12 tracks available. How do I get 12 tracks to show in devices ? The situation with 1010LT is noted in the WIki http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Multichannel_Recording#Suggested_devices . If you are on Windows XP or can get the older 20...
