Re: Sound / Silence Marker

Some examples of where point labels are inadequate (require manual intervention to achieve sensible gaps): Both sides of an LP are recorded, turning over the LP while the recording is still running. Both sides of a cassette tape are recorded using an "auto reverse" cassette player. The re...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

The point of entering the number of tracks (or at least the approximate number of tracks) is that it may obsolete the need for duration/threshold controls. If the plug-in knows roughly how many tracks it is looking for, it may be possible to determine the threshold levels automatically. OK. Though ...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

If you want a "standard" 1.5 second lead in, 2.5 second lead out and want it automated, then region labels must be the better option? (so as to tie in with "Export Multiple based on labels). I think it's a nice enough option, but not mandatory in a "simple" tool. Do you fee...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

Just playing with an idea here. How about if something like this could be made to work? I'm not sure about the requirement to enter the number of tracks. Perhaps that information isn't always to hand - for example is recording from FM radio comparable technically to recording from tape? If so you m...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

and demanding an immediate refund... I'd just give them a full refund of $0.0 ;) Yes, but as I am sure you understand, they just purchased the USB gizmo as a means to an end, and Audacity came with it. Aside from the common misconception that Audacity makes the gizmo, Audacity appears (and probably...

Re: Bitrate settings for M4A (AAC) Export

AAC is almost never implemented as a constant bit rate (and it isn't constant bit rate in iTunes). I wrote a couple of responses in the past about this which may be useful: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=53260#p53260 http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=165223#p165223 . Re: How to layer vocals from one song over audio from anothe

... There is no "magic button" for isolating vocals. There is an article here about removing/isolating vocals: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Vocal_Removal There is also this experimental plug-in from Robert J. H. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=216689#p216689 That's the ...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

The perceived "over-complication" of Audacity was exactly why Ion/Numark stopped distributing Audacity in favour of a "simple" program targeted at a dumbed down perception of what most users would want to do with their recording. But, it kept more of the Ion/Numark customers hap...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker

Perhaps if we added a help screen, I would be (a little) more persuaded. A "Help Button" for Nyquist effects is something else that I've been looking at. It appears to be a prerequisite for a "Nyquist Generate Prompt" (or at least, that was about the only objection to having a &...
