Re: Searching the Manual
I have made two discoveries myself. The first is that I misread the 'Welcome' page: it states that it is the online version of the Manual that is searchable, not the locally installed one. That is confirmed by some of the helpful answers above. The second, however, is that if instead of http://manu...

Re: Searching the Manual
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ isn't searchable (beyond CTRL + F on each page) because there are still certain technical obstacles to doing that which take time to fix (without resorting to Google ad-driven searches). In the meantime to search http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ you can either book...

Re: Missing Audio Block Files ANGST!!
Please post more of the log that shows the name and location of the block files Audacity is looking for. Try searching your computer for some of the files listed there. You may then find all of the AU files that way. Hopefully you will find the "e00" folder that contains the "d" ...

Re: opening Unicode-named mp3 file crashes Audacity 2.0.3
Do you know if Audacity 2.0.3 for Windows has the same bug? I believe the problem occurs only in OS X. Thanks for your suggestion of retro-testing the versions of Audacity until I find the version in which this bug started. I downloaded the old versions of Audacity, but my current OS X installation...

Re: Metadata editor
How can I set it so the metadata editor opens for each track, allowing me to fill in all of the fields individually for each track? It does that by default, assuming you are using Export Multiple. Go back to the Import / Export Preferences, put a check (tick) in "Show Metadata Editor prior to ...

Re: opening Unicode-named mp3 file crashes Audacity 2.0.3
I am using Audacity to record my voice as tracks in which I respond to .mp3 files of Mandarin Chinese language study materials. These .mp3 files have Chinese characters in their filenames and in their pathnames. When the .mp3 files are opened in Audacity, Audacity crashes frequently, but intermitte...

Re: Recording function
It would have helped if you had given the version of Windows and Audacity (please see the pink panel above). I suggest you read this Frequently Asked Question: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#sound_device then if not solved, come back to us with more information including what y...

Re: Not able to record properly from thin client
Audacity needs to be installed on "A" with the sound card on "A". There is no real support for local and remote machine relationships. If you get it to work as such, it's as good or bad as it is. It can work (even if not officially supported) if Audacity is installed on "B&...
