Re: Recording

You may have enabled Transport > Sound Activated Recording by mistake. Try looking there (in the menus at the top). If you see a tick (check) mark by that item that means it is turned on, in which case click on it to uncheck it and so turn the feature off.

Re: Clipped Audio - Is This Beyond Hope?

Clip Fix is an interesting arithmetic experiment not intended for use on extended, high quality music or heavy clipping. I much prefer Effect > Clip Fix to Effect > Repair for extended high quality recordings that are slightly clipped - much more "musical" in my opinion, not to say less l...

Re: Error: reference to invalid character number at line 3

Audacity should not be freezing regularly on saving a project - where do you save projects to? Are you saving to a slow network drive? Line 3 should be the project xmlns line and the "datadir" in that line would be where that autosave file is looking for the data. Assuming you had not save...

Re: Why won't my effects preferences be saved?

The VST scan makes Audacity launch more slowly. When Audacity scans once for VST effects it does not need to do so again unless you want to add new plug-ins before each new session of Audacity. Is that what you want to do? AutoTune's features do not work completely in Audacity because Audacity does ...

Re: track name overwritten with words from speech audio

Did you export multiple by labels (that have the speech words) instead of by tracks? If that isn't anything to do with it and the file in question is an AUP, can you attach the AUP file - Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 . Gale

Re: Audacity opens blank project file

There is nothing relevant in the log. If there is also no error message when you open the project, then Audacity sees no problem with it. I would suggest you open the project from Recent Files, then File > Save Project As... to a new name, then close and reopen that newly saved project. If it looks ...

Re: LAME Exporting to MP3 File NOT .mp3!!

If you need to add dots (periods) in the MP3 file name, please add the .mp3 extension to the end of the file name. Please see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... extensions .

Re: A glitch of sorts with automatic sample rate reduction.

I'm guessing that when you go to "Preferences > Quality" and change the dither option, that the "Default Sample Rate" option is set to 44100. When you then click "OK", the "Quality" settings that are selected in "Preferences > Quality" are applied. ...
