Have you tried Windows Control Panel, search for System Restore then choose "Restore system files and settings from a restore point"? Choose the last restore point before this problem started.

Your computer needs to at least meet the minimum requirements for the operating system that you are using and should preferably be more than the minimum system requirements. What error is given when you try to record and hear the noise?

Have you checked both ends of the USB cable are tight and rebooted the computer?

Either you changed some setting, or you are trying to play the audio on a different device than the one that has stereo mix, or your sound card drivers were changed in which case you may want to roll back to the previous drivers in Device Manager.
