Re: Input volume slider says "Unavailable; use system mixer.
Audacity 2.0.5 is very old now. I suggest you try the current 2.1.2 release from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/ . While I believe I've been able to adjust the recording level in the past using the input volume slider in Audacity 2.0.5, I now get the message "Unavailable; use system mixer...

Re: why is external mic recording playback higher pitched
Thanks for writing the detailed answer . Did you find a playback effect in the Realtek Control Panel that directly changed pitch? I saw no place in the Realtek Audio Manager, and no place at all on Windows XP (will update when I can) where there is any options to change sample rates, like there are ...

If this preserves the timeline position of each clip this might be the best you can do.qwertquadrat wrote:Not directly. One could of course copy each clip in one channel to an empty project and mix down the audio.Gale Andrews wrote:Can you save multiple clips in one line as one file?

Re: setting speed prior to recording an overdub track
Thanks Koz for everything !!! It is now working perfectly. 3rd, 4th track doesn't matter - it records guitar, piano or whatever on pitch and timed correctly (of course slight latency as normal). I took your advice of calming the frustration and deliberately looking at everything piece by piece, set...

Re: Nyquist effects missing
I'm on El Capitan. I had been thinking that these were shipped with Audacity. So that would mean that they shouldn't have to be enabled by add/remove effects then correct? That they should be showing up by default? The effects shipped with 2.1.2 are listed in the Manual: http://manual.audacityteam....

Re: .aup file reference and .wav instead of .au
Do I assume from your further post though that your clips are all stereo Mostly yes. Some sound effects are mono. And depending on the project, there is also a narrators voice that is mono. Are they simply strung out in time? No. For example an actors voice, sound effects, music and ambient sound a...

Re: .aup file reference and .wav instead of .au
Can these sound strips be exported as multichannel WAV files? Audacity can import such a file one track per channel. Sadly not out of the box :/ (and I am not aware of any add-on that implements such a feature) Would that mean btw. that every channel would then be mono? And would you still have to ...

Re: Recording problem
In fact, I use a DJ deck (SL-1200 MK2) with an Allen & Heath Xone 43C mixer. Then the recording output of the table (RCA) goes to the microphone input of the PC. Is that your only physical audio input? The mic input is meant for low level (unamplified) signals from computer mics. Even it's a &q...
