Re: No sound?
I am running Audacity 2.0.3 on Windows Vista. For some reason, whenever I try to play a plug-in that Audacity suggested that I download, it says I need to import raw. After I import the raw data, all I hear for every plug-in is a scratching sound. I am just starting out with mixing and this kind of...

Re: Recording and playback
So you have the input device in Audacity Device Toolbar set to "USB Audio Codec" and you just record a flat line? Do you get a hissy copy of the recording if you do Effect > Amplify and OK? Have you listened to the cassette recorder by putting headphones in it (to see if it makes any sound...

Re: Wave image small, sound inaudible
I've got nothing to add. This isn't an Audacity problem, unless you can record with GarageBand and get a much better level.
I suggest you try AudioHijack Pro, connect a loopback cable or similar. Does you Mac have a line-in?

Re: Export as wav
Almost certainly the reason you get the message about not able to export to "Volumes" is because you are running Audacity from the DMG. If you do that you will not be able to run Audacity with all effects and settings. Please drag the "Audacity" folder from the DMG to your /Appli...

Re: Audacity Not recognising some Shortcuts or Symlinks
Audacity doesn't really work very conveniently as an external editor for other programs, it's something that we should improve some time.
Please give steps 1, 2, 3... how you created the Desktop shortcut to Ableton and how you created the symlink. It can't be tested otherwise.

Re: Can't select small enough section to delete
It's in Selection Toolbar. Click this link to find out: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... .html#snap .
If you have hidden Selection Toolbar, View > Toolbars > Reset Toolbars then you can uncheck Snap To.

Re: Removing / Deleting Clips
To clarify, I was recording a lecture I gave, and I thought I turned it off, but it kept on recording for the next two hours. I want to remove the last two hours that have recorded nothing. Click just after the end of the recording you want to keep. Hold down SHIFT on your keyboard and press K. Pre...

Re: New track recording picks up all the previous tracks.
The usual reasons this happens: You are not wearing headphones You are recording from stereo mix or what u hear instead of the mic - see Device Toolbar If you are recording through a mixer you may be sending your headphones output back to Audacity to be recorded (for example by sending the control r...
