Re: how to record a phone interview in 2 tracks?
I'm pretty sure you can't split Left and Right to originate from two different devices. Koz Do you mean Audacity can't do this? Audacity can only record from one input device at a time. Can you attach a cable between the output and input of the Scarlett so that the output is sent to the second inpu...

Re: Can't edit. Have pressed yellow stop button many times.
Audacity doesn't have right-click > Edit commands in most cases.
Please describe what exactly happens if you press select some audio, press Stop then click on the top of the Edit Menu.

Re: cannot record with focusrite external soundcard need hel
But if theres anyone who might no the solution to this please leave a comment. I don't know the solution but generally 64-bit drivers are needed even for USB and Firewire devices if you have a 64-bit operating system. That doesn't mean to say that the manufacturer will offer a separate download for...

Re: Audacity Recovery tool won't work - need help stitching
I thought there were two folders because you said you split it into parts to keep the size under 1 GB. Your file names are not a consistent sequence where each file name has the same number of letters and numbers. The script probably doesn't like hyphens so remove them. The first file must be e001.a...

Re: Audacity lowers volume when opening
I tried the 2.0.4 alpha but the system volumes inmediately drops back to zero or a low level when I start it. This happens both on a Dell XPS 15 and a Dell Vostro (both on Windows 7, 64). Let me know if you need more info. Thanks for replying, Age. Where did you obtain the Realtek drivers from - th...

Re: Recording and playback
Gale, thank you for your patience and help. I am now seeing the wave patterns What fixed that - was the input volume too low? there is now sound at playback. I am using an iMac OS X 10.7.5 You mean there is no sound at playback? Where, in Audacity? Is there error opening sound device, or just no so...

Re: Im about to start a new project
I think Koz and I have answered this already. Quit Audacity. Launch Audacity by double-clicking on audacity.exe. Now you have a clean empty workspace to work in. Decide if you want to back up by exporting WAV files periodically or by doing File > Save Project As... periodically. Do both if you want ...

Re: Recording and playback
Under device it shows 'USB PnP Audio Device'. The cassette player works with headphones. OK. Have you turned up the input slider in Audacity (the right-hand slider in this image)? http://manual.audacityteam.org/m/images/2/2b/MixerToolbarWithoutInputSelect.png That's why I asked you to try amplifyin...
Re: Loud hum
You must expect some hum with cheap USB products that probably cost a few dollars to make. If the hum is because you have Transport > Software Playthrough enabled in Audacity so you can hear what you are recording, try doing without it. Press Record first in Audacity, then start the tape playing. Af...
