Just to round this off, there will not be a fix for this in 2.0.4 (which is now released ) .

The problem goes back seven years, apparently and it was not felt the release should be held up for finalising the fix and having another "release candidate" testing period.

Have you turned on Transport > Sound Activated Recording by mistake? If there is a checkmark (tick) by that menu item click it to uncheck it.
