Re: Audacity module loading
The modules loading dialogue is new to 2.0.4 and is not meant for FFmpeg and LAME. As I've already explained on [email protected], you are supposed to install FFmpeg properly using these instructions . Those instructions do not tell you to put the FFmpeg contents in the Modules folder, which is why you are ...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 still crashes
How about trying a debug build from early in 2.0.3 release period and seeing if that error occurs in the log even with no crash: http://www.audacity.homerow.net/index.php?dir=mac%2Faudacity-weekly-debug-2013.01.27-04.15%2F . That does not crash and does not throw the assert. The first thing I did w...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 doesn't launch on XP
The question remains: does using KS on HDMI make sense ? Is it even possible ? The device drivers of that HDMI device have apparently determined that KS does make sense, but neither Audacity or Foobar2000 can use HDMI with that kernel streaming. That is not Audacity's or Foobar2000's fault (it is A...

Re: Unrestricted Audacity 2.0.4 is working fine on Windows 8
It seems a lot of people have trouble running Audacity 2.0.4. This is just to say that it is working fine on my Windows 8 64 bit system with integrated RealTek High Definition Audio. Both the Direct Sound and WASAPI drivers are recognized and allow me to record streaming radio without any glitch. T...

@ Michael_Graubart, your first 2.0.4 crash report is different (the thread writing the log did not crash): Crashed Thread: 2 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-overcommit-priority Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000 Application Spe...

Re: 2.0.4 - unable to record "What U Hear."
If you try Windows DirectSound host (first box in Device Toolbar), does it work any better? I'll try that. (As I write, I am actually using Audacity - successfully - to record an audio stream.) Did you need to reselect "Audigy What U Hear"? Do you have the latest possible drivers for the ...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 fails to launch on XP
The build needs all seven DLL's it was packaged with, in the same folder as "audacity.exe". XP should have a right-click option in Explorer to unpack a zip file. As an alternative, select and copy the "audacity.exe" from the test build. Open the folder where you installed Audacit...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 doesn't launch on XP
If so and you disabled or uninstalled it (probably you'd have to do it in Device Manager) then 2.0.4 might launch. Sorry but it's the HDMI device driver so I'm obviously not going to remove it. It's up to Audacity to deal with it instead. It's up to you of course, but I understood you might not be ...

There you go ============================== Default capture device number: 1 Default playback device number: 3 ============================== [...] Thanks, nothing apparently out of the ordinary there. Just a Realtek motherboard sound device. Did you have any other audio devices connected when you ...
