Re: 2 Tracks Recorded on top of each other - HELP
If you have overdub on and find that recording the second track recorded the first track as well as what you were recording, then are you recording from the correct input in Device Toolbar ? You would get the first track bleeding into the recording of the second if you were recording from stereo mix...

Re: Export to PCM 8bit Mono 8khz
creates a wma file. That's not what the other company wants, is it? Windows Media is not 8-bit PCM, etc, etc. It's m4a or mpeg4, I forget. WMA formats are lossy (apart from WMA lossless) but are not part of the MPEG standard. For what it's worth, you can copy the XP Souund Recorder (sndrec32.exe) f...

Re: link songs into one session
Actually there have been several votes to add a feature to Align End to End to adjust the track overlap. Hence I forgot Robert's plug-in (sorry, Robert).
I'd probably remember more of the plug-ins if they got onto the Wiki.

Re: link songs into one session
I know you want a one-click solution, but Audacity doesn't have Append > Import There is a plug-in here that will append-import WAV and AIFF files (but strictly end-to-end without overlap): http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=151858#p151858 . You can do it manually. Audacity 2.0.4 now has...

Re: Paste over, not insert
We need a Paste Replace function really that works just by placing the cursor. As it is now, you can only replace by pasting into a selection, and the selection must be the same length as the clipboard or the track length will change. You could try the pair of plug-ins "Punch Copy/ Paste" ...

Re: 24 kHz recordings (Keep rate or change?)
hope im in the right spot. [WinXP - w/Audacity 2.0.4] I have a Sansa Clip (mp3 player) with a feature on it for recording voice. It delivers 24 kHz mono wave (PCM) files (16 bit, 384k). Please try not to write in abbreviations like "k" for kbps. Considering you're only capturing up to 120...

Re: I can't find my File menu
Merged the two topics.
Audacity > Quit Audacity.
Open Finder.
Go > Go to Folder and type:
Delete audacity.cfg.
Restart Audacity.
This will reset your settings as long as you never used Audacity 1.2 before.

Re: 2 Tracks Recorded on top of each other - HELP
Press F5 on your keyboard, then click and drag the lower track so that it's just past the end of the first track, then drag it up into the upper track. Then drag it backwards and it will attach to the end of the first clip. Then you can click [X] on the top left of the now-empty lower track to close...
