Re: Track numbers in WAV metadata?
Dare I hope that next year might find a stand-alone WAV tag editor, or at least, a way to simply fix existing WAV files without importing, opening, and resaving them one by If you mean "provided by Audacity", probably not. Many of the more flexible ID3 tag editors will read ID3 tags in WA...

Re: Track numbers in WAV metadata?
I'm using Audacity 2.0.3 still, with Win7. If I export a project as multiple WAV files, the WAV file metadata does not contain any track numbers, artist or album title, etc. They're blanks, while other software like cdex will gladly put in track numbers when ripping music. So am I missing something...

Re: Any option to group installed plug-ins?
So if you can compile Audacity you can enable the disabled feature (in Experimental.h). The exact grouping was forced on the user in the disabled method - another reason why it was disabled. Do you like the idea of the user managing the groups by creating subfolders in the Audacity plug-ins folder? ...

Re: 24 kHz recordings (Keep rate or change?)
"Harmonic Enhancer" effects are intended to be able to "fake" better quality by generating overtones, but in my experience they are not usually very useful for "acoustic" style sounds. (they can work quite well for brightening up dull cymbal or snare drum recordings). ...

Re: Any option to group installed plug-ins?
No, but there is a disabled method to categorise plug-ins that is disabled because it was very unpopular (it buried common effects too far inside the category).
Can you compile Audacity?

Re: Strange problems with Audacity
Restart the computer again so that Audacity is not running. Re-install 2.0.3, making sure that "Reset Preferences" is ticked (checked) half way through the installation process. When Audacity starts, confirm you want to reset preferences. If it is a machine confusion, it is probably a secu...

Re: Permissions
What is the error message that you are getting? Are you using a valid file name? Are you "Saving a project" or "Exporting a file"? Saving a project previously made with an earlier version. The error is (parpahrased) "You don't have permission to save in that location, would...

Re: Changing a track rate shrinks the wave size dramatically
So what Robert is saying is that if the first mono track was originally 11025 Hz, use the Track Drop-Down menu to set it back to 11025 Hz. Or if you are not sure what changes you made, try Edit > Undo to just undo the changes until you see the first track has changed to back to 11025 Hz. From where ...

Re: 24 kHz recordings (Keep rate or change?)
I am not that experienced w/all this -- But I am still unclear on this.. Like, if I add effects, duplicate, multi track, make stereo, etc. with Audacity --can that (combined) exceed the original recording's 'frequencies'? --thus the end result be improved by 'upsampling' --from it's original 24 kHz...
