Re: Audacity 2.0.4 multitrack with Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL

Today I tested (under Windows XP SP3) the Windows WDM-KS driver with the interface ESSI ESU 1818 in the free DAW Audacity 2.0.4 as multitrack (multiinput). This chain worked perfectly for 18 channels simultaneously even at 96000 Hz. WDM-KS will be removed from Audacity 2.0.5 release, but we'll cont...

Re: Recording error is messing up stereo

Uninstalling and reinstalling Audacity would not help. Audacity is recording two channels but Windows is giving you a mono mix, which is what you have Windows set to (1 channel). Basically if you see a message that stereo mix can't record two channels, even at 44100 Hz 16-bit, then it's broken. Try ...

Re: Misleading behavior of Make Stereo Track

I bet you it would stop the complaints though. but now we are into conjecture about how many complaints would stop and how many new complaints there would be. I think most users should be able to understand why Audacity joined the two tracks so that the left channel that was at the bottom of the pa...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 multitrack with Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL

but there are no reports of WASAPI doing so. isn't WASAPI only partly implemented? Weren't there some problems with implementing it fully? Yes only loopback (recording of computer playback) is enabled for WASAPI. So you can't record mic or line-in with WASAPI yet. But the WASAPI (non-loopback) prob...

Re: Truncate Silence not working

Yes. Still cannot find the solution getting a good recording on my laptop. Then don't. Download the YouTube video instead ;) Or ask your computer manufacturer for a new USB sound card. Or try something like http://www.fxsound.com/dfx/ . Actually, the lack of an EQ on the built-in sound card would b...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 multitrack with Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL

There has also been some work done recently in Audacity, developing support for WASAPI and WDM-KS, which may in the future improve Audacity's support for mult-channel devices. Unfortunately this has had a bit of a set back because some older sound card drivers (and poorly written new sound card dri...

Re: Unable to record or playback on USB

If you don't see USB Audio CODEC in the Audacity playback and recording devices, do Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.

Re: Yet Another, No sound when recording

I connect the cable from the TEAC cassette player to the back of my computer to the blue port (line in) which opens the Realtek HD Audio Manager, and then I confirm Line In. Next I have tried selecting each of the 5 line in options from the Audacity toolbar ( MME; Speakers: Realtek Hi; I've tried a...

Yes to both questions.

Re: playback latency

To make sure, open the Audacity Recording Preferences and set the Audio to Buffer to as low as you can without the playback or recording breaking up.

Look for similar settings in the Saffire if it has a control panel.
