Step by step instructions are in the link you were given: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown .
Windows, steps 1 to 6.
Where do those instructions go wrong?

Re: 2.0.4 downloaded couple weeks ago canot record
I did suggest what you could do in 2.0.4 (reselect the input you want in Device Toolbar) and suggested you tried 2.0.5-alpha (which may have fixed the problem - it would have been helpful to know). If you still prefer to go back to 2.0.3 then you can get it here http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/...

Re: Can't export?
As you are on Windows, I moved your post to the Windows board. Are you trying to export as WMA? If so you need to install FFmpeg following these instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown . File > Import > Raw Data... is only for uncompressed files l...

Re: FFmpeg library error
Thanks. It's noted in the Manual http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#linff that you may not be able to build Audacity against greater than FFmpeg 0.8. We hope to be supporting a later FFmpeg version in the Audacity version after next (2.0.6) but it depends on the ...

Re: Audacity crashes upon opening/importing MP3.
After Audacity 2.0.4 crashes on trying to import a file, I tried the 2.0.5 alpha version : it works well on my iMac 27" with French Mountain Lion. I join the diagnostic report of 2.0.4 crash. Thanks for this beautiful software ! AntoineR Thanks, AntoineR. No file was attached, but it does not ...

Re: 2.0.4 downloaded couple weeks ago canot record
Alternatively you can just wait for 2.0.5 to be released, hopefully in a few days' time. So it would be good if you tried 2.0.5-alpha now, or 2.0.5 release when it comes out.

Re: Small (reproducible crash)...
Thanks for the report.
I can repeat the crash with simpler steps on Windows and Linux:
1 Generate Tone
2 Zoom in to maximum
3 drag-select a small distance in the waveform without drawing a selection there (that is, the selection will only be in the Timeline)
4 Effect > Repeat.

Re: 2.0.4 downloaded couple weeks ago canot record
If you take Audacity to another computer you will have to install LAME if you want MP3 export: lame http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq.html . Is there any reason you cannot put Audacity on the hard drive on the desktop machine? In 2.0.4 have you tried selecting the input you want in Device Too...

Re: After Windows 7, 64bit Update
Things shouldn't be like that. Reinstall Audacity 2.0.4, make sure "Reset Preferences" is checked half way through the installer. Before starting Audacity after reinstallation, right-click over the speaker icon by the system clock, then choose "Playback Devices". Right-click over...

Re: Crackling audio playback - multiple formats and volume l
I don't really have too much more by way of suggestion, but it seems from the Ensemble documentation that there is no choice of bit depth provided by Apogee, nor do they suggest changing it in the DAW. Have you tried 24-bit default sample format and 192000 Hz default sample rate in Audacity, stereo ...
