Re: 2.1.2 fixes recording input level problems

You are VERY lucky! I have similar problem (clipping and no way to control it) when recording from a (Teac) USB turntable, and I am new to Audacity, having just loaded 2.1.2 for Mac running Yosemite 10.10.5. I can't believe we are alone here, so has anyone out there got a solution? and why haven't ...

Hopefully the same as File > Import.
No, subsequent files dragged to the Dock will open in new project windows, as far as I know.

Re: "Normalize" discrepancy

From the manual: Basic recording, editing and exporting, Step 4: Adjusting Amplitude: Choose Effect > Normalize.... Accept (for now) the default choices in the Normalize dialog and click the OK button The volume is normalized to -1 dB, so leaving a little headroom below the maximum possible 0 dB le...

Re: Yosemite compatibility

Running Yosemite 10.10.5 I purchased a new turntable that came with latest version of Audacity. Prior to the Yosemite and turntable upgrades, I had been very successfully using another usb turntable and Audacity 2.0.4.0 to record LPs and save to iTunes. Before loading the new Audacity software, I d...

Re: Dragging/opening files

In earlier versions I have always been able to drag files into the Audacity window. I am now only able to open files using the menu (Command O). I'm wondering whether it's a bug in my software, an incompatibility, or if there's a setting that I accidentally triggered somewhere. I recently upgraded ...

Re: Recording Upstairs Neighbors

I've been battling with my new neighbors recently and am trying to record the noise coming from their apartment upstairs but every-time I try to record them through Audicity I just get white noise, the mic will record my voice if I speak into it but apparently it can't pick up the sounds of their 2...

Re: Need help with my first recording

Besides the Microphone/Line-in input there was the Microphone Array input, which now I find was causing the feedback loop. Once I disabled it the whine went away. While it's always worth trying that, in my opinion the audio drivers are suspect if you need to do that. If you add playthrough to the e...

Re: Audacity won't open

A virus scan won't solve anything as I don't have a virus. Unless you do a virus scan you don't know whether you have a virus or not right now. I also suggest you try Safe Mode but of course it is up to you. If you could launch Audacity before, think of what you changed in terms of new audio device...

Re: Apply Chain

If I was using Chains I would find it more intuitive to set sample rate parameters there not in Preferences. My suggestion is not exclusive of other improvements Neither is mine. It would probably be useful to have one or more options for project rate behaviour when importing as well as to set samp...
