Re: Error while opening sound device.

Unless Skype or some other program blocking access to the audio device is the cause, we'll need to get to some basics. Make sure you are using the current Audacity 2.0.5: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . What device you are using for playback? Does it have correct drivers? What host are yo...

Re: Stereo split issues amplifying right side while recordin

Did you reinstall the IDT sound device when you reinstalled Windows 7? This is mandatory or you may get problems like this. If you have a branded computer, go to the web site of the computer manufacturer and install the latest audio drivers for Windows 7 and your specific computer model. Do this eve...

Re: AUDACITY CRASHING ON FIRST LAUNCH

Waves (Audio Units at least) does not work with Audacity. Please see Release Notes 2.0.5 . If you have the Audio Units version of Waves, that would be why 2.0.4 crashed. 2.0.5 does not load Audio Units until you ask for them from the Effect Menu, so 2.0.5 would crash if you tried to use the Waves Au...

Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit

Thanks, charlieusa. This is a very old topic so I will lock it now. If you look at http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html you can see there that Audacity from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows now has Windows WASAPI loopback recording that ca...

Re: Default export wav instead of save aup

It's not requierd for the tool to jump back but when the use again audacity to edit it will give an error because audacity is already running. (The old instance is the still actime and will destroy the files from the new instance). What version of Audacity are you using (look at Help > About Audaci...

Re: Playback degrades in quality over time

A few Macs seem to have some playback issues with recent Audacity, so to be sure whether the recording is the problem or not, please export the recording as WAV and play it in iTunes or QuickTime. Does it crackle there?

Re: Focusrite Saphire 14. Can't select correct input

I've decided I much prefer Audacity to Garage band. Audacity's more intuitive. So I want revert to Audacity with my new sound card. But has the mapping problem been solved? There has been no more work on this recently. Of course if you compile Audacity you can try the patch yourself. If the patch n...

Re: Audacity sometimes records at wrong speed

I am recording from a physical radio. Does this radio have a headphones output? Does your computer have a line-in port (blue)? If so you may be able to connect the radio to the line-in and record from line-in. Yes, but then I couldn't listen to the output. Yes you could. In Audacity, Transport > So...

Re: INERT, PERSISTENT "WELCOME TO AUDACITY!" WINDOW

Are other windows freezing up? Yes, the Log window also remains fixed, inert Thanks for testing. Suppose you record or import a little audio then Analyze > Plot Spectrum. Is that window usable? If you edit the audio then press "Replot" in the Frequency Analysis window, does the plot redra...

Re: Motherboard

Please see here about the motherboard: http://tinyurl.com/ooos8qu . There is no urgent need to change the motherboard if you can now play your USB mic recordings at correct pitch. Changing the motherboard may not be easy on a notebook. You should ask Packard Bell. Motherboard sound is never going to...
