Re: capability
I use Brian Davis; excellent ClickRepair. It costs a little (C $40 IIRC) but is excellent value for the money - see this sticky forum thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1994 It also has a steep learning curve so you need to be prepared to put effort into it to get top re...

Re: Record in windows XP
We can't give you an answer unless you say what you want to record. Please try reading the documentation: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_how_to_s.html . If you are asking about recording computer playback, please see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_comput...

Re: Upgrade from Audacity 1.3 Beta Windows 7-64 bit Professi
Please see this Frequently Asked Question: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#exe . Projects created in 1.3 Beta should open in 2.0.x. You need administrative permissions to install Audacity (or any other programs). If you know the admin password then you can rig...

Re: Audio is ruined after exporting
it also sounds bad in Quicktime. When playing the exact same .wav file in iTunes or VLC, it sounds perfectly fine just like in Audacity. iTunes uses QuickTime. It does not seem to be an Audacity fault if the Audacity export plays OK in VLC. Does the file sound bad in QuickTime if you play it throug...

Re: FFmpeg library not found
Hello - I have audacity 2.0.5 running on a mac server - as root or admin - my instance sees the ffmpeg library - as a logged in user it doesn't not. Any suggestions on how the root / admin user can share the privs system wide with others? Am happy to post log entries from audacity if needed. Please...

We only link to one "recommended" download site, the one listed on http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown .jannels wrote:I'm quite certain at least a couple of times I was clicking on the 'FFmpeg_v0.6.2_for_Audacity' link. Are there two download pages?

Re: Laptop crashed during recording
Are you sure you gave Audacity the new file? I don't have many more ideas other than trying to hack the file into a regular project. You can recover without the AUP or autosave file but you have to go though hoops to get absolutely every block file with the channels ordered correctly left and right....

Re: Headphone Distortion, Low Volume
What version of Windows? Do you have separate speakers and headphones devices and the default Windows playback device is set to speakers? That could be an explanation. Is the plug of your headphones clean? Is the headphones port clean? Dirt can prevent proper contact. Reinstalling Audacity won't mak...

Re: Asio device setup window
Audacity doesn't have an ASIO Setup. Audacity can't choose which inputs to use yet - you have to pick all of them and delete any unwanted tracks that you record. How many recording channels are shown in Device Toolbar? Is there a "master" device you can choose which records all channels? C...

Re: Installing 2.0.5
If you install Audacity 2.0.x to the same folder as the previous installation of Audacity, the Desktop shortcut pointing to it should just get overwritten. It does for me.
