Re: Files Won't Open, Audacity 2.0.5, Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
I uninstalled 2.0.5, and deleted audacity.cfg Then re-installed 2.0.5 from the beginning. All the AUP files now open, so that is a result. I'm glad it was fixed, though please note that if you ever used Audacity 1.2 on that computer, 1.2 writes its settings to the Windows registry and 2.0.x version...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks
If the track says mono on the left it is mono and there is no debate. If the track says stereo on the left and you want exact information on how much the two channels are alike ("correlated"), try the "rjh-stereo-tool" from http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=216689#p21...

Re: Recording parts of stream
Hi, I am trying to record the sound of streaming TV and omit the commercials. I find that neither pause (shortkey p) then record (shortkey r) or record-stop (shortkey s) are reliable. What's the reliable way to go about this? I'm blind and having some trouble reading the forum, so would appreciate ...

Re: Files Won't Open, Audacity 2.0.5, Windows 7 SP1 62 bit
I've recorded a couple of vinyl albums using Audacity, when I return to insert track titles etc, i find the files wont open. When i open Audacity, I click file, open, navigate to the relevant file, then click. Nothing happens, eventually a message appears next to tile of the file (not responding). ...

Re: Asio device setup window
Here is some kind of workaround to my Audacity vs ASIO vs Marian Marc 4 Digi problem Thanks for that. Since Marian uses registry entries, I wonder where the fault lies that the wrong entry is written that has only two channels. I assume it is Audacity's or PortAudio's fault that it does not detect ...

Re: Asio device setup window
Thanks for your research. The product home page http://marian.de/en//products/marc_4_digi says the driver suite includes DirectSound. There is no way we can test with your equipment. Have you asked the opinion of the device manufacturer or asked PortAudio where exactly the technical problem lies? Gale

Re: Upgrade from Audacity 1.3 Beta Windows 7-64 bit Professi
Up to now I've only been creating WAV files, but thinking perhaps MP3s might be a better way to go. Please see this if you want to install LAME: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame . WAV files are perfect quality. MP3 files are much smaller but lose quality....

I think all you need to do is read the information that you've been given about installation. It sounds as if it went OK.

Re: capability
If you want a program that uses "wizards" to do everything for you, you could try http://www.ionaudio.com/ezvc/ . If you are on Windows Vista or later and getting recordings in mono, this is a simple change in the Windows "Sound" control panel: By the system clock, right-click ov...

Re: capability
So far I haven't found anything about splitting the track that contains all the separate songs. Audacity can do that, but not while recording. Please see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/splitting_a_recording_into_separate_tracks.html . With Soundsaver and Vinylstudio you were able to section ...
