Re: Inserting pauses to aid transcription.
Wasn't there something similar to this you already wrote that inserted silences? Or was that for expanding an existing silence (the opposite of Truncate Silence)? Sorry I don't follow the Nyquist board, so I don't know. David Sky's Audio Chunker did something similar to this (attached). We ought to ...

Hmm, probably not :-( I'm stuck at compiling wxWidgets 2.8.12 on OS X 10.9 Are you following http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Building_On_Mac#Install_wxWidgets ? You do need Xcode 5.0 or greater on Mavericks. I'll update the Wiki page presently to say that. As you are building widgets from a scrip...

Re: Lame and FFmpeg libraries not where they should be
Unfortunately we cannot see your computer so we cannot tell what is happening. If you want to know why Mac sometimes locks /usr/local/ and sometimes not, you can ask an Apple representative. I am sure you won't get a straight answer. Your permissions could be broken (something else that can happen o...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks
I would still vote for keeping the filters in any revamped "Centre Remover", and for including isolation. I don't think there is any less chance isolation would work than removal would work. Artefacts are expected, so a few more artefacts if a filter achieves more removal or isolation is p...

Re: Updated to 2.0.5 and Audacity won't record
I checked my drivers and I saw both 64 and 32 listed. Is this a 64-bit processor? If you right-click over Computer > Properties, does it say 64-bit? What is the make and model number of the computer? If it's a branded computer like Dell or HP, you should check the manufacturer's web site for the la...

Mac sometimes likes to lock out /usr/local so that you cannot "hurt" your system. I suggest you forget the installers and follow the instructions for the zip files instead: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#maclame_zip http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/...

Re: Fade in on Compressor
Explaining compressors makes my head hurt so I will leave that to Steve, but increasing the Decay time from the default 1s to 2s seems to be causing the problem when applied just to that audio sample.

Re: No Playback on MacBook (loud click instead)
Thanks again for testing (yes I meant the Audio MIDI Setup utility). So this isn't a problem with Audacity making visible settings changes to the audio device, and not a problem when it queries the audio device on launch. It just occurs when you play in Audacity. I suppose you could rebuild current ...
