Re: Freezes - Critical Nyquist files not found

I'm already planning to add a Frequently Asked Question for what to do if this "Critical Nyquist... " error occurs, but first we need to know more about why Audacity freezes on some Macs if you run it from the DMG and not on others. Actually Steve already started that FAQ (mentioning the ...

Re: Freezes - Critical Nyquist files not found

Correction - I assumed the ".app" was to be copied according to the instructions, and missed the word "folder". I now copied over the entire folder content and problem is solved, thanks. Thanks for confirming. When you got the freeze was this your first ever use of Audacity? I u...

Re: Freezes - Critical Nyquist files not found

The Mac download page has explicit "installation instructions". There is an "Install.txt" file in the DMG and that says how to "install". That doesn't mean that users aren't going to behave in the same predictable way they have for decades—ignore the installation instr...

Re: Updated to 2.0.5 and Audacity won't record

Virtual audio devices like "audials" are going to make things more complicated. Do you use it for recording movie audio? Did you install audials just before the problem started? Can you disable its audio devices but still use its movie search or whatever it does? What else did you change b...

Re: How to concatenate two audio files

Import/Append would not have done it, either. Is there a way to "associate" a list of search terms with a wiki submission? Koz Quite hard. Wiki gives us no control over keywords without installing extensions, and in any case search engines tend to downgrade the importance of keywords thes...

Re: splitting/inserting

when I press Shift-I get a pop-up message: "device information is not available" I tried on two different Windows 7 computers (Home premium and Professional), same error. Steve made a small typo when he wrote out the steps. He meant CTRL + I. I've updated his steps. SHIFT + I opens a dial...

Re: Freezes - Critical Nyquist files not found

I found this via Google after making the same mistake. I registered just to ask: can't the user experience be improved for what seems to be a very common and understandable user error? The Mac download page has explicit "installation instructions". There is an "Install.txt" file...
