I've discussed improving the Audacity installer with Paul Livesey. I suggested he use a background image that shows the user what to do. He'll try to show user an alias folder for /Applications within the DMG.
Then user just has to drag the Audacity folder to the alias folder inside the DMG.

Re: Cannot open Audacity after clicking on the Nyquist optio
The only way I can repeat this freeze in 2.0.5 is to drag Audacity.app out of its "Audacity" folder. If you did that, put Audacity.app back. Otherwise, trashing the Audacity folder in /Applications, then re-download and reinstall will still leave Nyquist effects enabled. Trashing the Audac...

Re: Lost Audacity Project
On Wednesday, December 11th, I recorded over an hour long podcast and saved it as a project (.aup file). It seemed like it saved, and when I went into audacity this morning, December 15th, to edit it, I went to the 'Recent Files' tab. The project file (named 'Episode 12') was there. When I clicked ...

Re: How to align multiple tracks to the right
Is there an actual use case for the Audacity functions: "Tracks > Align Tracks > End to Cursor/Selection Start" "Tracks > Align Tracks > End to Selection End" I expect someone will have a use case for the aligned tracks remaining synced so I don't think you could just exchange f...

Re: Two bugs (or at least programming related issues) to V2.
Yes, in finder the tracks are listed in proper order, but within audacity, file>import does it as 1, 10, 11, 2, 3... Thanks. I would still guess it's a Mac bug, given Audacity takes the alphanumeric order it's given. My experience with dragging tracks is not good. I can drag a track to move down on...

Thanks for the follow-up and explanation, zabukowski. I'll make a note of this on our Wiki page about VST plug-ins.

Re: Help, newbie here
Does the project rate have anything to do with it? I know my pc has been set to 98000 and audacity is at 44100. I tried to have them in sinc but that doesn't work either. Whatever host you choose in Audacity Device Toolbar you should set stereo mix in Windows "Sound" to the same as Audaci...

Re: Won't record to USB
Another person suggested switching the USB cable, but this is a specialty cable that came with the device, and I don't have a replacement. What exactly is this USB gizmo - make and model number? You can use pretty much any USB cable for a USB turntable or cassette deck. A significant minority of th...

Re: Dividing one long track into smaller tracks
I am recording from a Fisher MT715 turntable, out of the headphone output of a Technics stereo receiver, SA-GX170, in through the mic input of my laptop, bypassing the EQ for authentic sound. What input of the Technics are you connecting to? If it's a phono input you are not bypassing the RIAA equa...
