Re: Live USB key: external record

Basic anti-virus and firewall is built into latest Windows, just as with other OS'es. No anti-virus (which is heavily resources consuming) needed with GNU/Linux. ;) Anti-virus programs don't need to be heavy resource consumers. Modern Windows is much more locked down against exploits than in the Wi...

Re: Two channels record (stereo), only one plays back

I right-clicked the Microphone (USB Audio Codec) and drilled down to change the setting from 1 Channel 16 bit 48000 hz to 1 Channel 16 bit 44100 hz, retried a recording and got the same result. I am only hearing one of the stereo channels on playback. Do you want stereo recording or not? Irrespecti...

Re: Default "Play At Speed" Retained Until Reset?

I can't find a way for the "Transcription Toolbar > Play at Speed" to retain its playback speed. I'd like it to retain the previous usage until I change it, even if I open a new file. If I play a file at 1.5x or 1.8x (which I do regularly) it's always reset to 1x each time a file is opene...

Re: Welcome Page Won't Close

There have been some similar reports on 10.5.8. It doesn't happen in recent OS X.

You may have to turn off the Welcome screen in audacity.cfg.

Put the CD you burned in your computer and look at it in Explorer. How you many cda tracks (44 bytes) do you see?

Re: Two channels record (stereo), only one plays back

Hello! New to USB turntable recording. I am using a Victoria Tunewriter III and Audacity 2.0.5 in Windows 8. While recording a track off vinyl, I see both tracks recording (both meters are active), but upon playback only one track is heard, in mono format (and only one meter is active). I've gone t...

Re: "did not recognize type of file"

I was able to create an *.mp3 and a *.wav file from the speaker playback of the *.mp4 .[...] Before I could [Export] to mp3 I needed to download and install : lame_enc.dll and FFmpeg_v0.6.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.zip You only needed LAME to export as MP3. But if you had FFmpeg you could have impor...

Re: No Playback on MacBook (loud click instead)

It seems that it works too when Audio to buffer is set to 30ms. That doesn't completely surprise me. Someone on Mavericks who was setting Audacity output to Soundflower (for sending to another application) found that the audio had repeated fast clicks unless Audio to buffer was reduced. Perhaps som...
