Re: recording/playback problem
Please follow the instructions. Turn off all enhancements or sound effects (go into the control panel for the sound card and turn them off there too). Turn off Skype and all VoIP programs. Record from your mic, not from stereo mix. Please confirm exactly the input device you are recording from in De...

Re: Audacity Version 2.0.5 FeaturesStop Working Fast (Win 8.
The first suggestion your proposed is unfortunately not the solution to my problem. What I record on Audacity is music from YouTube. I have an HP ENVY dv6-7273ca notebook PC. That model may have "Beats Audio" built-in sound which is usually more or less broken. What I usually try to do af...

Re: Audacity Version 2.0.5 FeaturesStop Working Fast (Win 8.
Not very long ago I downloaded Audacity version 2.0.5 and I've been using it to record audio. As soon as I finish recording, many of the features on Audacity no longer work, and in order to use them I have to close the program and open it up again. The playback features remain okay although everyth...

Re: Can't Export at Desired Rate
I'm merely trying to reduce the file size, and willing to reduce audio quality to get it. Since the highest audio frequency I need is not that high -- adult male spoken voice, typically well below 1 kHz -- reducing the sample rate seems like a simple way to get it, and I think I've been doing that ...

Re: Time windows
If you are there to stop the recording you don't need to set a selection. If you do add a track and set a selection and Transport > Overdub is on then recording stops at the end of the selection. Please see Selection Toolbar - Audacity Manual . Use Transport > Timer Record if you want a simpler way ...

Re: Converting Voice Data Recorder VOC Files to MP3 Files
You stand the best chances with the Freemake Free Audio Converter. It supports VOC file conversion. It is available from http://www.freemake.com/free_audio_converter/ You could also have a look at the RCA download page at http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads/ Maybe they have some download availab...

Re: New and lost...
I am now using v. 2.0.5 and the manual is quite helpful but this part; "Operating System Specifics: On Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8: 1. By the system clock, right-click over the Speaker icon > Recording Devices then right-click over USB Audio Codec > "Properties". 2. On the &quo...

Re: Convert WAV file into VOC format
Given the "RCA" username this might be about RCA VOC. If so, see http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 12#p232412 .
SoX only natively supports Creative VOC. If you compile devoc.c you might be able to get SoX to play the files or convert to WAV .

Re: Converting Voice Data Recorder VOC Files to MP3 Files
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=639 That topic gives no answer about converting RCA VOC files (except perhaps on Linux if you can compile source code). Audacity can import Creative VOC files through libsndfile (that is, without FFmpeg). Audacity cannot import RCA VOC files ev...
