Re: Multichannel wav file export is cut
But how do I add a track to pcm multichannel larger than 4 GB? What do you mean by "add a track"? If you want to make a 7.1 file instead of 5.1, add the tracks in Audacity. Have you tried to see if the file is under 2 GB if exported as FLAC? If you must make a PCM file larger than 4 GB yo...

Re: Pass Through Sound
Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough. It's job is to connect the recording to the playback so you can hear what you're doing. I've never heard of a recording dropping dead if you do that. It's fairly common on Linux. Audacity always uses PortAudio's default latency values when software playthr...

Re: Sudden stopping
Two suggestions. Change the USB cable and ensure it is tight both ends. Ensure you plug into an empty USB port, not into a USB hub that has other devices plugged into it. Make sure it's a USB 2.0 port not 1.1, which could be too slow in some circumstances. Look in the specifications in your computer...

Re: Multichannel wav file export is cut
Then FLAC exceed 4 gb? and is equivalete to PCM (wav)? FLAC is lossless but has a size limit of 2 GB on Windows: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/file_export_dialog.html#compare . 16-bit FLAC will be about half the size of 16-bit WAV, so in terms of total audio length you can fit into the file,...

Re: Record audio from ONLY one specific application
Definitely, Rewire licensing is incompatible with Audacity: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Features_We_Can%27t_Implement#Licensing_restrictions . You should be able to record from just one application to Audacity using "virtual cable" technology. The original Virtual Audio Cable program...

Re: Make Album Artist and Year Propagate in Export Multiple
Most form editors are coded to automatically select the entire field contents when a field is first selected so it can be immediately replaced by over-type. One typically has to click again to insert a position-specific editing cursor. You can just TAB into a field or single-click select it, then t...

Re: Norton causing recordings not able to be saved
I have confirmed that the Norton 360 task "Windows temporary file cleaner" is killing the audio files that have been created in audacity, but not yet saved to disk. To test this, I started recording an audio internet stream and let it run for a while. I then checked to make sure that the ...

Please don't jump on someone else's year old topic. Your post may not even be seen, because the topic seems to be "answered". I started a new topic for you. I updated to 2.0.3 yesterday. The current version is 2.0.5 - http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . I had everything working smoo...

For anyone else reading this - http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_with_usb_turntables.html in the Manual covers setup issues including turning software playthrough on. I'm locking this topic now as you seem to have solved the connection problem - as so often, caused by a bad cable. Gale

Re: ALSA Latency
Doesn't the (hw) device also have low enough latency? Yes, but PulseAudio adds latency to the Linux sound system The (hw) device doesn't use pulse - it should use the hardware directly. (hw) will be slow starting playback or recording because as I understand it, choosing the (hw) device will tempor...
