Audacity doesn't have automatic track splitting while recording. You can label the songs manually (or try Analyze > Silence Finder to label the tracks automatically) then File > Export Multiple to export the labelled sections. If you are selecting using the keyboard, select using the mouse instead.

Just a reminder to make sure you have Audacity 2.0.5 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Audacity 2.0.4 added support for WDM-KS which could cause a computer crash or freeze with some audio devices. Updating drivers will probably not help if you have 2.0.4. 2.0.5 does not support WDM-KS....

If you were attempting it on a virtual machine under Ubuntu, that could be the reason. That was my first attempt. I then tried it on a real, (but old) hardware with little more success.
