Re: Would like to have some latency between recording/playin
It's exactly the contrary of most people who are complaining of having some lag between mic and earphone, in my case i DO want this lag ! What are you trying to do - delay an audio stream that is before a video stream? If so, does this help: http://www.daansystems.com/radiodelay/ ? Alternatively yo...

Re: 32-Bit Float will not export to 16-bit PCM
So it's actually in 16-bit PCM format? If you export as "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM" - yes. ;) Windows doesn't provide that information, as far as I know. You don't say what version of Windows you have (see the pink panel top of the page) but try right-click over the file in Window...

Re: Audacity Closes upon opening program
Did you say "Yes" after installation when Audacity asked if you really wanted to reset preferences? If you click "Yes" do you see a dialogue that says "Install VST Effects"? If so, click "Cancel" on that dialogue. Does that help? Try to say what you see rather...

Re: No levels displayed
Is there no one who can help me out? :( I guess will have to try and reset it. I hope I can figure out how to do it myself. What issue do you have? Koz told you how to make Meter Toolbar appear. Take your computer mouse, click "View" at the top of the Audacity screen. Follow the menu down...

Re: inconsistency with import/export behavior
I can count a vote for per-track metadata. The workaround might be to File > Open Y.mp3 which will then import into a separate project window. Separate projects have their own metadata. Actually, I'm not interested in having Audacity track multiple sets of metadata for a project; after all, those m...

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
The poster discovered a work-around when he was arranging to provide much longer sound clips. Which was...? Or if it was excessive volume from mixing tracks together that are too loud when combined, why does it only happen in the first five seconds and not after that? Or did the poster stop listeni...

Re: Microphone volume settings
Assuming the music and words are on separate Audacity tracks, use the -....+ gain sliders on each track (to left of the blue waves) to adjust the relative volume of each track. Audacity always mixes tracks together - look at the green playback meters and make sure after adjusting the gain sliders th...

If you have turned Transport > Software Playthrough off (see above) then recording will be continuous. Skip to ...
