Re: Trying to record mic audio and pc audio to separate trac

I'm making gaming content on YouTube and my goal is to be able to record both my mic audio and game audio into Audacity so I can edit with both in mind. Use auto ducking while I'm speaking, make sure both can be heard, fix audio range (not sure I'm using that right) etc. Audacity does not apply eff...

Re: Error while opening sound device (WASAPI)

The problem is that i'm not trying to record the headset microphone. I am trying to record the actual sound which is a playback device in windows. I thought you were trying to record what you hear through the headset. If not, what sound device are you trying to record? My default sound format is 48...

Re: Error while opening sound device (WASAPI)

I'm just wondering as to why WASAPI works fine for most people but it throws this error for me You may have to change Audacity Project Rate at bottom left to 44100 Hz, or to whatever the current Default Format rate is in Windows Sound . To check Default Format, right-click over the speaker icon by ...

Re: Very Weird Import/Open Error

I have the latest version of Audacity (2.1.2) at the time of writing this (used the .exe program), but I got it after the corruption. So, I get the "Use File > Open command to open Audacity Project files" when opening the aup. project file. Is there anyway I can reverse this without messi...

I've had a copy of TextWrangler for some years but it has become extremely slow to launch on Sierra, and sometimes never launches properly.

I also know of Brackets which is certainly fast and perhaps easier than TextWrangler for a simple edit.

Re: Multi-channel Recording in Audacity

The sticking point with having whole 16 tracks appear when you push record or overdub is that audacity records the noise floor on all of the unused tracks which uses a processing power. You can avoid that though by muting the unused tracks which does seem to save resources. If you mute the unwanted...

That's delightful news. Editing or just viewing?
Editing. I'll have to test further.

Re: conversion loss rates

What are you trying to do? Create a broadcast radio program from best-quality, costless, ripped soundfiles. Koz Well, you can listen to the files after importing them. For the same file size, OGG is probably higher quality than all but the highest bit rate MP3's. OPUS files are very small. For clas...
