Re: overdub peak
@Robert - I don't think you voted yet for a "master fader" or other solution. Do you want to vote for some method? Gale I'm not very fond of a general master gain slider. That's a remainder of the analog domain. However, I like the "Normalize Project" part of it. OK - you said: ...

Re: RIPPING VINYL Processing 24Bit 96KHz recording to CD-A/D
there was recently (Audacity 2.0.4? somewhere around there) a significant improvement to the "Shaped" dither in Audacity. My recommendation for Audacity 2.0.5 (and later) is to use the default "Shaped" dither as this gives the best quality. The fix was in 2.0.5 release (the bug ...

Re: Recording cursor lags behind waveform
I'm glad it seems to be fixed. Typically having "mismatched" sample rates between Audacity, Windows (if sample rates can be set) and an external device can cause audibly incorrect speed, synchronisation problems between tracks and/or crackly quality. Yes if the project gets set to some rat...

Re: x1832usb mixer board
When you have recorded one track then record another with Transport > Software Playthrough on, what happens exactly? I was guessing it recorded the first track and not the second, but does something else happen, for example it only records a flat line? I'm using a new lap top with windows 8 and that...

Re: no sound through Audacity on my Mac
I am afraid that is not the case. Without the Line-in records simply will not be heard through the computer. Software Play through has always been ticked on. Which you did not say, so obviously we will suggest it. We have Macs where software playthrough works (and lets you hear the record without r...

Re: inconsistency with import/export behavior
The file name to be exported is already X in the case you cited. But you chose to import another file that had its own metadata. A user could have imported another three files each with their own metadata for some reason, but you want Audacity to guess that the user actually wants to use the metada...

Re: Inconsistent latency problem
All very odd! Anyone else hit this? As you gathered there probably isn't much to be done about this apart from the obvious idea of shutting down as many other programs as possible and stopping Mac doing Time Machine backups, contacting network servers and whatever else it does from time to time. Ha...

Re: Mic still records at 0
What are the make and model numbers of the USB mics, or are the mics connected to a USB mixer (make and model number)?
