Re: First track sounds clearer than others

Turn off all Windows sound enhancements: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements . If that does not help, tell us exactly how you are recording (make and model number of the microphone and how it connects to the computer), and in what application you are ...

Re: Can't control input level

The 'Tape In' sockets on the amp take the signal (from any source - turntable, radio, CD, etc) from the amp to the tape deck for recording. If you say so. ;) If it was me I'd want to read the amplifier manual to know how it detects a phono source and applies RIAA. On the (moderately cheapo) amplifi...

Re: Icon audio files

If you are using Windows Explorer in an "Icons" view to view these files, then if the file has an embedded image and you edit the file and overwrite it in Audacity, then yes, the exported file will not have the image. Therefore, Windows Explorer will no longer show the image with an overla...

Well, standard file save dialogues in Windows have the same problem in other applications too if you put a "?" in the file name.

Re: Cannot load complete Audacity recording

Okay I have no clue why it was only showing a minute of silence before but when I just opened it everything appeared! :) Was there a problem reading the folder where "FSvsRS.aup" and "FSvsRS_data" resided? I suggest you export now while the audio is there. Make sure the exported...

Re: Project Data file size optimization

When you close the project, the audio data is trimmed to just the data needed for the project that you see, without any undo ability. If you leave the project open, the data for undo and redo is still present. To discard all your undo history, click View > History, select the bottom item in the list...

Re: Timeline not moving on record

Frankie1234 wrote:I got the same problem, when make recording, sometime the timeline stuck and don't move, if I close and re-open Audacity or restart my computer, Audacity may work normally.
As it says in this topic, that is the correct solution.

Re: Cannot load complete Audacity recording

Please attach the Audacity log. It's at Help > Show Log... (in Audacity). There is no easy way to save the log on Mac until the next 2.0.6 version, but you can do it by clicking at the top of the log text, drag down to the bottom with your mouse, COMMAND + C, open TextEdit then paste and save. When ...

Re: Can't control input level

have plugged into the amps "Tape IN" sockets using the "line in" cable. Now appear to be getting decent, and controllable, levels. You mean, you are connecting from the turntable to "Tape IN" of the amplifier? It's not the correct solution. You should connect to "...

Re: Audacity 2.0.5 hangs when reading oga file

You should be able to rename the file to OGG then tell FFmpeg to import the file by using File > Import > Audio and choosing "FFmpeg-compatible files", but there seems to be a bug here - the OGG importer takes the file anyway, so Audacity still freezes. This appears to be Bug 535 – Native...
