Try reading http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... ation.html for why vocal removal is imperfect and may not work at all.
If you want "perfect removal", don't waste your time using effects, but look for a karaoke version of the song.

Re: track listing
How do u make one track…Each time i record the track goes to the line.. What version of Audacity and OS X? Please see the pink panel at the top of this page. What are you trying to do, exactly? If the problem is that the recording is a flat line (silence), you need to choose the correct device to r...

Re: Reduced Input Levels / Which Audio Host
Generally, use the Host that suits you/sounds best. There are no prescriptive answers to your questions. On XP, Windows DirectSound should have lower latency than MME. On Vista and later, MME and DirectSound are emulated on top of WASAPI, so DirectSound no longer has a direct route to the hardware. ...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?
Would it be possible, and acceptable, for a developer to provide software that would do the compiling automatically. An OS "macro," as it were. Some kind of script to checkout the wxWidgets and Audacity sources from SVN version control, then build Widgets and Audacity is perfectly possibl...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?
I have tried to see if PatchMix will send a non-ASIO signal to Windows, but apparently not, and I've never heard of an "ASIO converter" or interpreter. There is an "ASIOBridge Package" at http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/VirtualCables.htm which (as I understand) is int...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?
I need ASIO compatibility. I've read the compiling instructions in the wiki (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface#Non-distributable_ASIO_support_in_Audacity), and am totally intimidated. Sorry, it looks like a major project with no guarantee of success, and it would have to be rep...

Re: Compiling troubles on Mint Linux
Thanks again for the advice. It was still failing on the ./configure part of those commands with the same error. I was able to get past it though, by including usr/local in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. It successfully ran the configure command. Now, though, when I make the project, it ...

Re: Basic Record Settings Ubuntu
Audacity isn't "set to record audio card output after a Linux install, by default" because it's set to record whatever the system default is, and that system default is unlikely to be computer playback on Linux (or any other platform) because of copyright concerns. Please see: http://manua...

Re: Output Routing For Tracks?
I think it's still true that Audacity doesn't have multi-channel output. Correct. It's a feature request. @KenRyan, if you want to add a vote that Audacity supports multi-channel playback, please let us know, so that we can gauge the "demand" for it. If you go Audacity > Preferences, choo...
