Re: I need help merging recorded electronic drum tracks
WAV will preserve the distortion in lossless quality, MP3 will make it worse. Don't record the drum set connected to the mic input unless you know it can be switched to line level input. The mic input will be adding unwanted low quality amplification, even if you can stop it actually going over 0 dB...

Re: Audacity App Opens but Main Window Won't Appear
Hi, I've had Audacity on my Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.1 for 6 or 7 months and it has worked fine up until this week. Now when I start up the programme, there is no default blank edit window, and if I try to open a project or import an audio file nothing changes and no edit window appears. All of the opt...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?
There isn't a PDF Manual, sorry. That's why it says Help > Manual (in web browser). The HTML Manual uses image maps (meaning that you click on different parts of the image to visit different links) which have proved a stumbling block to making a professional-looking PDF version. If you have download...

Re: Skipping on playback
Yes I know this or a related problem may occur other than on MacBook Pro - but it is most prevalent on MacBook pro. Are you using a standard project rate - 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz? I could probably build 2.0.5 with the PortAudio version that came with 2.0.3 if you definitely want to try it. It would pr...

Re: Improving the "Change Pitch..." module
Have a search on -devel, or ask Leland. When we were redesigning Metadata Editor sometime early in 1.3, there was a drop-down panel added to it. I can remember seeing it. I think Leland has gone off radar, but thanks for the tip, I'll have a look in some old 1.3 versions. If you have not found it y...

Re: Do the Izotope RX 3 plugins work in Audacity? (YES!)
Note also that there is no buffer delay compensation in Audacity, but these plug-ins employ buffering in order to provide "look ahead" for real-time processing. So all these plug-ins will add silence to the start of the processed selection and remove the same amount of audio from the end o...

I see it like this at the moment:

- Should be a preference not selectable in the effect (1 votes)
- Use SBMS in Change Pitch/Change Tempo (2 votes)

Re: Skipping on playback
Thanks for testing. Another user of a Saffire Pro 40 interface told me that QuickTime had the same problem after installing Mavericks and that he corrected it by installing a Saffire Control Panel. He said he could stop the Audacity playback stutter by opening System Preferences > Sound while Audaci...

Re: USB cassette recording has intermittent drop-outs
Try booting into Gnome fallback mode (if that is still an option in Ubuntu). That's still supported, but I don't think fallback is installed by default. If not, sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback I find the main performance hit on Ubuntu is with the "Nautilus" file manager, and t...
