Re: Hype tape to mp3 converter HY-2010 "Unknown device".
Audacity does not make USB devices, only the Audacity software. USB tape converters almost never have separate drivers. You could try the steps in the green box "Detecting USB and Firewire devices" here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#flatline . Not...

Re: Improving the "Change Pitch..." module
I disagree a Frequency control is "advanced". Unfortunately it's not quite as simple as just adding a frequency control. [...] Ideally the effect should have three controls for bass and three for treble (boost/cut, frequency, slope). I expect that would be too complex for some of our user...

Re: steve harris plugin
The zip file http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/sw ... 0.4.15.zip is not an installer. The user is responsible for putting the extracted files in ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/LADSPA if they wish to do so.

Re: Do the Izotope RX 3 plugins work in Audacity? (YES!)
Click Repair does have a steep learning curve (IMO) if you want to get the absolute best out of it, even though it gives good results without too much effort. I thought it looked intimidating when I first opened it up. Also it requires installing Java, which is unfortunate (possible security risk). ...

Re: Logarithmic Sliders
Looking at Steve's slider image, isn't the point of logarithmic sliders that you get most granularity over the most audibly important volume ranges? My "objection" about log sliders is that they are harder for novices to understand. They know what a desk ruler looks like and don't understa...

Re: Can I begin recording with a hotkey?
Thanks, Robert. Windows 8 now uses most of the Windows key and letter combinations for system shortcuts. Windows + A is still available but it could be used by Microsoft any time I guess. I don't think using CAPSLOCK as a modifier is a good idea seeing how many users write in UPPER CASE. Some say th...

Re: Application will not start, Windows 8
Where are you running Audacity from? If you are running it from the build folder, have you followed "MSVC++ STEP 7: Provide Access to the wxWidgets DLLs" in wincompile.txt by adding the correct wx* DLL's for your build of Audacity?

Re: Old cassette tape is too loud (or "hot")
Awright...I don't know what is going on. I opened that set of Windows windows and fiddled with the input volume. All of a sudden, the input volume on the Audacity window is working. (I have it set @ .2). This is not apparently due to anything on the Realtek controls---that one is at max. I guess th...

Re: How to play an album using 2.0.5
Still don't know how to play a record You would make things easier for yourself if you read our documentation. If you installed Audacity from the EXE installer, try Help > Manual (in web browser) from the Audacity menus. If you prefer to read online, you can follow Recording with USB turntables or ...
