Moved to "Adding Features" as there is no agreement this is a "bug".
If am not an audio engineer, but if you HighPass white noise and pink noise at say 5000 Hz, doesn't the pink noise "sound" much quieter and the white noise not "sound" much quieter?

Re: Skipping in Mavericks
My wife and I have different accounts on this computer. We switch back and forth depending on who's using the computer. She may have some things open in her account. I always assumed that stuff would get cached to the hard drive when we switch between accounts, but that may be a bad assumption. The...

Re: Envelope tool and preserving quality
I wish future versions of Audacity will just have an improved fade-out option, making it truly adjustable (like Envelope). Have you tried Effect > Adjustable Fade... (underneath the divider in the Effect Menu)? Or do you mean that you want to set Fade Out or Fade In so that they run (without dialog...

Re: Cannot record from music program
It may still be possible in Win7 with a little work. While a Windows 7 computer may not have sound card stereo mix, you can record playback if you use the Windows WASAPI host in Audacity. Open Device Toolbar . In the first (Host) box of Device Toolbar, choose "Windows WASAPI". In the seco...

Re: recording start up
If you have a USB turntable, see this: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_t ... hite_Noise .
Tell us exactly what you are recording and how if you need more help. Tell us what version of Windows and what version of Audacity (see the pink panel at the top of this page).

Re: What settings can reduce export mp3 file size?
The main determinant of MP3 file size is the bit rate, so if 64 kbps is still too large, try reducing the bit rate further. If the recording is stereo, use Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono to make it mono. This will let you reduce the bit rate further for the same quality than if you had a stereo track...

Re: How to make Audacity "CoolEdit like"
If so, the nearest method is to make a project for those files then that is your file list. Drag tracks from that project into the project you want to work on. this is extremly not comfortable, inserting all in timeline is not a resolution so i wrote. only way is to insert all files in one audacity...

Re: Skipping in Mavericks
On my Mac, with App Nap enabled for Audacity and a track selected in it, Audacity goes to sleep after 30 seconds if it does not have focus. If Audacity has focus, it seems to not go to sleep. Anyway, the more important thing is what effect if any disabling App Nap for Audacity has when playing a tra...

Re: Record level using Behringer UCA-202
I have bought myself a Behringer UCA-202 as advised to transfer my vinyl into iTunes. [...] The Audacity manual says “(not tested with any optional drivers)”. Has anyone tried optional drivers? Do you mean http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recommended_sound_devices , Gordon? The "Optional driv...
