Re: Lost project file

When trying to open from recent the aup file does show but when it is selected a dialog box pops up stating there is 3352 orphan blocks but they will do no harm. Then we clicked continue without deleting and nothing opens and there is no error message. This sounds (perhaps) as if the audio may be t...

Have you adjusted Audacity priority or set Windows to "Adjust for best performance of Programs"?

If not, try those.

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

$30 to $40 for a "printed" manual seems more reasonable. Viability at that price would depend on expected sales. The current 2.0.5 manual is 212 pages, some of which are quite long, so after formatting for a book it could be upward of 500 pages. Even a major distributor such as Amazon is ...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

Converting from the current wiki format to PDF is not straightforward and would require either very sophisticated conversion software (such as Acrobat), or a lot of manual editing of the HTML, or both. If it were straightforward then no doubt we would have done it. I've had a look at this myself an...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

the Audacity instructions should open up with no internet connection. It's just a file on your Mac. If you are looking at it in Finder, there are dozens of HTML files (and images) in different folders. It is not a unitary document. If you have not installed the Manual, you have to look at in Finder...

Re: Lost project file

As previously stated, ask her to use File > Recent Files.

If the AUP file is not listed there, have her search her computer for it.

A folder called "**** Minutes_data" would be impossible on Windows. "*" is not valid in a file or folder name.

Re: I can't hear anything in the recording?

Maybe no plugins are needed, but when you uninstall Audacity in Win8.1 and reinstall it selecting reset preferences, it does give you a prompt to reinstall 3 plugins. So by selecting both reset and do not install plugins, he figured he fixed it. I did install the plugins and it still fixed the prob...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?

I am not in favour of charging for a PDF Manual "that can be printed". It's clear (as I predicted) that a significant number of users think that PDF is the "expected", "non-confusing" local format for a Manual, and Manuals should really be free in a free application, su...

Re: Default settings in Silence Generator

In Audacity 2.0.5, Win XP-SP3 (changing over to a new computer with Win 8.1 in a week or so): Is there a way to change the default duration setting in the Silence Generator FROM hh:mm:ss + milliseconds TO seconds? No, it's a feature request. We have looked at it before, but the way it's been coded,...

Re: Lost project file

There is no data file. There is an AUP file and _data folder.

Open the AUP file from File > Recent Files in the Audacity menus.

You don't want to be reconstructing without the AUP file.
